"Wonderfully ripe and gorgeously aromatic, the wine shows passionfruit, sweet basil, kiwifruit and lime zest aromas, leading to an intensely flavoursome palate that's succulent and lively. Beautifully structured by bright acidity, finishing long and delectable. At its best: now to 2025" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Dec 2022

Sourced entirely from vineyards located in Southern Marlborough’s spectacular Awatere Valley, this vibrant wine displays aromas of citrus zest and vibrant tropical fruit with notes of fresh spring herbs complemented with hints of orange blossom and lemongrass. The palate is layered with flavours of juicy ripe lemon and lime, sweet fresh pineapple and crunchy green apple. This seamless wine has outstanding fruit concentration and a zesty underlying minerality that leads to a pure, lively and focused dry finish.

Grapes from this wine are sourced from four different vineyards located throughout the Awatere Valley. The Awatere is cooler, drier and windier than other sub-regions of Marlborough, with an overall longer and cooler growing season. These climatic factors combined with vineyards located on young, fertile river terraces result in distinctive wines with a mineral drive and fruit forward flavours.

A warm start to the 2021/2022 growing season provided excellent flowering and fruit-set conditions, with resulting fruit levels well above average. Warm, dry conditions over January quickly advanced the ripeness of the large crops, however unusually cool and wet weather in February slowed ripening considerably. Clear but cool conditions prevailed in the Awatere Valley from late February through to the end of March, allowing the fruit to gain concentrated fruit flavours without drastic drops in acidity or succumbing to disease pressure. Harvest for this wine began on the 25th March with all the grapes picked by the 9th April.

Select blocks from around the Awatere Valley are harvested using modern machine harvesters that allow ultimate extraction of flavour and aroma compounds from the skins of the grapes. Once at the winery the grapes are pressed into stainless steel tanks for cold settling, before being gently racked and inoculated with yeasts chosen to naturally enhance the aromatic and flavour profiles of the wine. Fermentation is carried out at cool temperatures allowing the wine to retain its bright aromas; with each batch fermentation typically lasting around 21 days. After fermentation is complete the wines are left to settle on their yeast lees for a short period before being racked again into stainless steel tanks for maturation. Meticulous classification of each batch results in a final blend that truly captures the exceptional characteristics of the vineyards. Once blended the resulting wine is stabilised and filtered without the need for fining, ready for bottling in early July 2022.

The Heart and Soul of a Survivor
Format: Kindle
The author of this biography of Siggi B. Wilzig, is a master in his ability to bring the heart, soul and brilliance of one man with an over-the-top life to readers attention. At a time in this country when antisemitism is at an all time rise not only in numbers but in demonstrations and acts of violence, this one book will remind everyone what evil is and how each one of us, regardless of religion, must fight to eliminate it however we can. The subtitle reads “Astonishing Journey from Auschwitz Survivor and Penniless Immigrant to Wall Street Legend,” providing the facts of Siggi Wilzig’s life. But the book is so much more. It is replete with humor, as well as horror, in stories this survivor tells. Stories by which he captivates audiences with his tales of concentration camp horrors in details rich enough that you can taste, smell and feel you were reliving those experiences with him. This exceptional man above all celebrates family, feeling blessed to have his own children and grandchildren to raise in a country free of the horrors he lived as a child. He is generous in his support of charitable works, and in building companies in which he considered his employees as family. I heartedly recommend Unstoppable to readers with only a semblance of the history of Nazi’s plans to exterminate the Jews. For it wasn’t only the Jews. Their plan to purify the German Race included the elimination of Gypsy’s, the ill, malformed, children too little to work, women and homosexuals. A famous quote attributed to Pastor Martin Niemöller, included in this book is “First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out because I was not a Trade Unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me – and there was no one left to speak for me.”

"Unstoppable" is Irresistible.
Format: Hardcover, Format: Hardcover
History. I know people who shut down when they hear the word. I get it. I do that with algebra. I only wish there were books that enticed one to higher math like "Unstoppable" lures one to history. Joshua Greene has presented us with a book whose foundation is build upon the evils of pre-war Nazi Germany and horrors of the German death camps. On top of that foundation he built a structure that houses the triumphal life of a stalwart human being....Siggi Willzig. I confess to a reluctance to read the first few chapters of this book. I find it difficult to dive deep into the details of the evil humans do. It is far easier to take in only the overview, the broad sweeping view of an era. But a deep dive is required to fully understand history. There is no better vehicle for obtaining that understanding than the intimate life story of a person who survived that history. That is what Joshua Greene presents us with. This is not a depressing dissection of one of the darkest evils in modern history. To view "Unstoppable" in that light would be to sell it short. Nor is it a superficial cliche of poor boy makes good. It is, instead, an exploration of the triumph of the human spirit, of maintaining faith and human decency in the face of overwhelming trauma and against all odds. It is an object lesson in the perils of our post war culture complacently engaging in bigotry, and of one person's joyful refutation of that folly. Siggi Wilzig's story has found just the right oracle. Mr. Greene's style is as engaging and irresistible as Mr. Wilzig was unstoppable. He guides the reader thru both the darkness and light of Wilzig's story with equal sensitivity and insight. This is how history should be presented. It is a personal story thru which the ambiance and the flavor of eras are taken in. I hope this book serves as an open door to those who might otherwise shy away from history and the darkness that pervaded the years of WW II.....a darkness that was never fully extinguished and remains with us today. The best way to understand who we are now is to know where we came from. The old adage of history repeating itself comes to mind. "Unstoppable" will take its place in the bulwark which, I hope, will fend off that repetition.

Amazing and Fantastic
Format: Hardcover
Without a doubt one of the best books, I have ever read. Follows a holocaust survivor through the deplorable conditions at Auschwitz to the top of the mountain in New Jersey as he becomes the CEO of two significant corporations, an oil company and a bank. Having the wits and wherewithal to stay alive while 59 members of his family were killed by the Nazis and the grit and determination to fight the Federal Reserve was truly amazing. A true hero.

here's what bothers me
Format: Kindle
There's no doubt that Siggi Wilzig was an amazing person. Courageous, tough, persistent, smart and so much more. And there is also no doubt that the Holocaust was the most heinous crime, i.e. genicide in world history. However, I cannot help but wonder if we all continue to cling to our religious beliefs and allow it to separate us from one another, will we ever be able achieve world peace? Siggi talked about gentiles as if there were a different species and his dedication to jewish causes was impressive, but it also concerned me. Wouldn't our world be better off if we cared equally about every race, religion, nationality and such. After all religion is faith. It's NOT fact based. Religious beliefs are impossible to prove. They are simply beliefs and yet mankind continues to identify one another by our race, our religion, our national origin. We are all just human beings with the same wants and needs. YES, let's make sure the world never forgets the horrors of the Holocaust and ensure we don't allow such hatred and mass murder to ever occur again to any people. And yes, there is anti-semitism and white nationalists and rascism and hatred of immigrants or anyone who looks or acts differently from ourselves. But isn't this the cause we should all be trying to overcome. To simply treat one another as we ourselves want to be treated. Not because of our race, our religion or any other factor - but because we are all human beings and we need to be kind to one another. This is the greatest goal we should all be working towards. If there is a God, does he favor one religion over another or one race or country over another? Ask yourself this question. This is the problem I had reading this book and yet, I still have the greatest respect for Siggi Wilzig and found the book quite interesting and highly inspirational.
