COURSE OVERVIEW:

Welcome to the Support People with Mental Health Issues course. This program has been designed to equip you with the knowledge, practical skills and interpersonal strategies required to support individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health conditions. You will explore the foundations of mental health and mental illness, develop an understanding of common mental health disorders, and build capabilities for safe, ethical and effective engagement with clients, carers and callers in distress. This course also addresses stigma reduction, communication techniques and structured approaches to supporting people across diverse situations.

This course begins by explaining what mental health is, how it differs from mental illness, and how the two concepts intersect across the spectrum of human experience. This learning area describes what good mental health looks like and introduces major mental health conditions including Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Psychosis and Dementia. It outlines who may be affected by each condition and the associated signs, symptoms and early indicators.

The next learning area examines the risk factors that increase vulnerability to mental health issues and the protective factors that support resilience and wellbeing. This learning area explores biological, psychological, social and environmental contributors, and highlights the importance of early identification and supportive intervention.

The next learning area explores how to manage initial contact with clients experiencing mental health issues, including individuals in distress, experiencing panic attacks or feeling agitated. This learning area provides practical approaches to ensuring safety, building rapport, and responding appropriately in unpredictable or escalated situations.

The next learning area addresses safe work practices for conducting home visits and outlines best-practice procedures for handling incoming telephone enquiries. This learning area also discusses how to support callers experiencing hallucinations, delusions, anxiety, depression or anger, as well as strategies for respectfully managing callers who talk excessively, make repeated contact or present as nuisance or sexual callers.

The next learning area focuses on structured counselling interactions and outlines how to conduct supportive conversations that respect autonomy and promote wellbeing. This learning area also explains how to collaborate with carers of individuals with mental health issues, including guidance on communication, boundaries, shared problem-solving and family support.

The next learning area explores the nature of stigma associated with mental illness. This learning area describes why stigma exists, how it affects individuals and communities, and the practical strategies that can be used to reduce stigma in personal, workplace and service environments.

By the end of this course you will be able to distinguish between mental health and mental illness, recognise major mental health conditions and their symptoms, respond safely and effectively to clients in distress, manage diverse interactions across face-to-face and telephone settings, conduct supportive counselling conversations, collaborate constructively with carers, and actively contribute to reducing stigma and promoting positive mental health outcomes in your work environment.

Very pleased
Color: Black, Size: 8' Wide x 30" Tall
This works great, and I find it to be very effective at soundproofing. The hinge is good quality, and it rolls up easily. It is slightly on the heavier side, but that is to be expected considering its larger size. The materials used to make it are top quality, and it will last a long time.

Good product
Style: Haze 4D
This machine is a beast for the price. I use it mostly on film sets, but occasionally for stage. It takes a bit to warm up, but will fill a room no problem.

Chauvet Hurricane Haze 4D
Style: Haze 4D, Style: Haze 4D
I’ve been a DJ for over 30 years and my lighting plays a big part in my show. I’ve used oil based fog machines which leave a residue and set off fire alarms. I’ve been using water based haze for the last 10 years and my Chauvet arena hazer finally bit the dust. I was hesitant about buying the Hurricane 4D because of the mixed reviews. After buying it and running some tests I found that you have to manually set the fan speed if you are using the wired remote. Also I found it works great if you don’t ask too much of it. I found that I can put it on continuous at roughly 20% volume and it fills and keeps the room full of haze. The haze is equivalent to a smokey bar. It allows your lights to project a cool looking beam for added effects. This hazer is about 1/4 the size of my Arena hazer but puts out about the same amount of haze. I found if you try for too much volume the heater can’t keep up and it spits and wastes haze fluid. But there is no reason for that to happen if you run it as I mentioned above. All in all I think it produces all the haze you will ever need just don’t push the hazer past it limits.
