Six Questions Your SEVA Franchise Financial Model Must Answer

We built this franchise unit financial model using our own research into the boutique beauty sector. Key assumptions, including the $570,000 Year 1 revenue target and the $131,000 EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) projection, are pre-populated and fully editable. This tool helps you bridge the gap between a brand's marketing materials and the actual cash flow reality of a high-traffic retail location.

What is the profitability trajectory?

The unit reaches operational profitability by March 2026, just three months after launching. This quick turn is driven by high-margin services like threading and lashes, which offset the $13,900 in total monthly fixed costs. Year 1 EBITDA starts at $131,000 and grows to $265,000 by Year 5 as the customer base matures.

Improving Unit Profitability

  • Upsell skincare retail products
  • Optimize tech scheduling
  • Reduce consumable waste
[dynamic_pic9]

How much capital is required and how is it allocated?

You will need approximately $415,000 in upfront capital to cover the initial franchise fee, leasehold improvements, and equipment. This does not include the minimum cash buffer of $854,000 required to navigate the ramp-up phase through March 2026. Most of your funds go toward the $200,000 build-out and $120,000 in specialized salon equipment and chairs.

Major Capital Uses

  • Leasehold Improvements: $200,000
  • Beauty Chairs/Stations: $80,000
  • Salon Equipment: $40,000
[dynamic_pic10]

What is the return on investment?

The model shows an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 1.91% and a Return on Equity (ROE) of 0.44. While the unit generates strong annual EBITDA, the high initial build-out costs mean the payback period defintely extends beyond the first five years of operation. Calculating return on investment for a service franchise requires looking at this long-term cash flow rather than just Year 1 wins.

Key Investor Metrics

  • IRR: 1.91%
  • Payback: After Year 5
  • Year 1 EBITDA: $131,000
[dynamic_pic11]

What is the break-even point?

The monthly break-even point is reached in March 2026, assuming you hit your initial service volume targets. The biggest hurdle to breaking even is the $6,500 monthly rent and the $13,000+ monthly payroll for your technicians and manager. Estimating revenue for a retail beauty salon accurately is the only way to ensure you cover these fixed obligations.

Levers for Faster Break-Even

  • Increase threading throughput
  • Launch local SEO early
  • Control front desk hours
[dynamic_pic12]

What is the cash runway and lowest cash point?

The lowest cash point occurs in March 2026, with a minimum cash requirement of $854,000 to remain solvent during the build-out and initial three-month ramp. You need a significant runway because the $200,000 leasehold improvements and $25,000 franchise fee are paid out well before the first customer walks in. Financial planning for small franchise chain owners must account for these timing gaps.

Actions to Protect Cash

  • Negotiate rent abatement
  • Phase furniture purchases
  • Manage initial inventory
[dynamic_pic13]

How do different scenarios change the outcome?

In the base case, revenue grows from $570,000 to $899,000 over five years, with EBITDA margins improving as fixed costs like rent are diluted. A low-performance scenario where revenue stays flat at Year 1 levels would significantly delay payback and could lead to a cash crunch. High-performance scenarios focus on maximizing the $221,000 threading revenue potential through better staff productivity.

Hitting the High Case

  • High tech retention
  • Corporate wellness partnerships
  • Aggressive retail upselling

GREAT TOYS FOR BIRDING DOGS.
Color: Blue&Purple&Orange
I would purchase these again!! These have lasted for the past four years with four dogs. My dogs love carrying these around and tossing them into the air. I have Vizslas, they are not heavy chewers, but love carrying toys in their mouths.

Worthless Dog Toy
Color: Blue
Buyer beware! This item is worthless - if I could rate it -5*, I would. It was delivered this morning and was destroyed literally within 10 minutes. The squeaker was punctured and two of the crinkle legs were stripped by my Shichon.

Fun for a few minutes but beware!
Color: Blue&Purple&Orange, Color: Blue&Purple&Orange
I have 3 dogs so looking for multipacks of the same style toy is great so there is less squabbling between who gets what toy. I have a border collie puppy, a 4 yr old Irish wolfhound cross and a 17 yr old border collie. These toys were loved by each one of my dogs. The toys are floppy and easy to squeak in the octopus head. So much so that my elderly boy could happily play and make it squeak. He even collected the toys up and took them to his bed! My puppy ran off bounding through the house squeaking the octopus' head with the tentacle-legs flying everywhere as she ran around, so the entertainment value is pretty high! My Irish wolfhound loved the crinkling on the tentacles of the octopus and went straight for tearing into the orange toy pulling out the plastic, then pulling out the squeaker. The toy did ok with a game of tuggy (tug-o-war) with him and this toy would have been a great reward during a training session. The fabric is not very tough so this is not a toy for aggressive chewers. Legs were easily chewed off and unfortunately were ingested by one of my dogs which caused them to vomit repeatedly throughout the night. Same with the squeaker, they are thin, soft plastic. So if your dog is a voracious chewer, give these a miss. What I liked about these toys: 1. They were reasonably priced for 3 toys 2. These are not small toys! They are great for medium and large dogs. 3. Very fun for the dogs to play with. 4. No stuffing to clean up What I didn't like: 1. Toys are not durable for tough tuggers. 2. The toys are not reinforced for chewing. 3. Squeaker not strong enough. The toys just didn't last. There was maybe 15 minutes of play time at most before the chewing and destruction of the toys really got started. I might buy these again if I can give my puppy better supervision for her chewing these and trying to stop her from ingesting the pieces she is chewing off put I probably won't buy them again. There's too much plastic that can be eaten with the crinkly plastic in the legs.
