• You don’t necessarily need to get your pump replaced. If this is the first time your Hiblow HP80 has stopped, all you need is the repair kit to rebuild your aerator. Hiblow air pumps need to be rebuilt about every 3 to 6 years, depending on where you live. One thing to look for is red dust in the unit; this means the magnetic rod block is getting too close to the coils. This happens when the coils get weak. It is advised you get a new hiblow air pump if this has happened.

  One of the first signs your septic tank aerator needs to be rebuilt if the septic tank alarms are going off. This happens due to the pressure dropping, which happens due to the aerator not working correctly. If you are unsure if you can rebuild your aerator because of how old it is, the date is printed on the barcode sticker of the pump on the back. The first four numbers are your month and year made in that order. Anything under 10 years should be able to be rebuilt. Anything over, we advise buying a new Hiblow HP80.

• Over 95 percent of Hiblow septic air pumps can be rebuilt. Hiblow designed all Hiblow aerators to be rebuilt multiple times to extend the life and use you get out of Hiblow aerators. This saves you money when compared to buying a new hiblow hp80.

  One thing to look for is red dust in the unit; this is a sign the coils are failing, and a new pump should be bought.

  If you are unsure if the unit operates or not, there are two copper pieces at on the top of the Hiblow where the safety screw goes in. To check this, remove the four screws on the base of the pump and open the Hiblow hp80. Once the aerator is open, on the top in the middle of the unit, there are two copper contacts; or safety shut off switch. If it’s the contacts take a screwdriver and touch them together, the unit can make a rattle; normally this is the rod blocks hitting the chamber block due to the diaphragm being torn. It might not make a noise, but if you closely inspect the diaphragm, you will see it has a tear in it, and you need a Hiblow hp80 repair kit.
