Ideal for those interested in honey bees or considering becoming a beekeeper.

This one day course covers the biology of the honey bee, the equipment you’ll need to keep bees, the gadgets you can buy, the pests and diseases to watch out for and the flowers you can plant to help bees and other pollinators and where to get your own bees.

Topics include honey bee biology and ecology, choosing a hive, management through the year, pests and diseases, plants for bees, how to start beekeeping and includes (weather depending) hands-on experience with a colony of bees at the College apiary.

Equipment required

  • Bee suit or long sleeved top (not woollen) and long trousers (a veil and gloves will be provided)
  • Wellington boots
  • Notebook and pen

I keep it near the front door and quickly roll the sunscreen on my hands, arms, and chest before leaving the house. The sunscreen applies so quickly and uniformly-- there are no bare spots or messy globs to rub in. Also, the roll-on keeps the sunscreen from oozing out of the tube and getting all over everything. Finally, the roll-on method also eliminates the frustration of having half-filled tubes and pumps where you can't even access the sunscreen when the tube gets low. Here's hoping this doesn't happen with the roll-on. Thank you Sun Bum for creating this wonderful product. I also love the reasonable price.
