U.S. M1830 Officer's Eagle Head Pommel Sword P. KnechtHere we have a very nice original Eagle Headed U. S. Officer's sword from the 1830's. The sword is all brass mounted with an interesting two part "D" hand guard with a very nice "closed mouth" eagle pommel. The two pearl panel grips have some cracks or chips but have been securely fixed some time ago. The eagle's head is very well executed, with a lovely, antiqued brass patina. The sword is 36. 50 inches long overall, with a straight 31. 50 inch
Here we have a very nice original Eagle Headed U.S. Officer's sword from the 1830's. The sword is all brass mounted with an interesting two part "D" hand guard with a very nice "closed mouth" eagle pommel. The two pearl panel grips have some cracks or chips but have been securely fixed some time ago. The eagle's head is very well executed, with a lovely, antiqued brass patina.
The sword is 36.50 inches long overall, with a straight 31.50 inch single edged blade, with a broad fuller, blued finish, and images in gold gilding. The blade is German-made and marked "Solingen." It is also etched "P. Knight" (Manufactured by Johann Peter Knecht) This word comes with a partial scabbard that is missing the drag.
