We have all experienced times in our life when we have spoken sharp hurtful words that cut deep. Some cuts severed a relationship while others leaving a lasting scar. Then there are times we’ve spoken life into someone’s situation. Our words are more like a salve that helps brings forth healing.

Some people make cutting remarks, but the words of the wise bring healing” Proverbs 12.18

As a person who use to cut deep with words I have learned through my own personal healing process that our words said in prayer will not only bring healing to others, but they can also bring healing to us. The power of Jesus Christ is found in mercy. When we speak words of mercy in prayer instead of gossiping, we are surrounding ourselves and others in an atmosphere of healing. Our bodies, minds, and hearts will all benefit from the healing power around us.

The Bible says that the power of life and death is in our words. This realization should make us only want to speak life. When we replace gossip with prayer, we are literally pouring life onto us and those around us. We can reap the fruits of blessings or curses. The choice is ours, and all we have to do is use our tongue in prayer. So before we gossip, let us pray in love!
