Bluesound Node Icon Flagship Wireless Music Streamer and DAC at Vinyl Sound Toronto Canada

The Node Icon is the flagship wireless music streamer and DAC from Bluesound (Pickering, Ontario, Canada), available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada. Winner of the What Hi-Fi? Award 2025 for Best Music Streamer £750-£1000, the What Hi-Fi? Product of the Year 2025, and the EISA Award 2025-2026 for Multiroom Streamer, the Node Icon sets a new benchmark for the BluOS streamer family with its dual-mono DAC design using two ESS Sabre ES9039Q2M chips — one dedicated per channel — paired with THX AAA headphone amplifier technology, balanced XLR outputs, HDMI eARC input, Dirac Live room correction support, QRONO d2a processing, and a vivid 5-inch full-colour HD display. What Hi-Fi? described it as "a lively, engaging and dynamic performer that grabs our interest at the beginning and only continues to impress us the more we listen," while AVForums awarded a perfect 10 out of 10, calling it "a peerless combination of features, performance and user-friendliness."

Dual-Mono DAC Architecture and QRONO d2a Technology

The Node Icon's central engineering advance over the standard Node is its dual-mono DAC design. Rather than using a single DAC chip to process both channels, Bluesound installs two ESS Sabre ES9039Q2M chips — one dedicated exclusively to the left channel and one to the right — allowing each chip to devote its full processing power to a single channel for greater channel separation, lower crosstalk, and a more precisely controlled signal path. The ES9039Q2M — ESS Technology's latest Hyperstream IV architecture chip — delivers a dynamic range of up to 130dB and THD of -126dB, supporting PCM up to 24-bit/192kHz and DSD256. Bluesound pairs this dual-mono DAC with QRONO d2a technology from MQA Labs (now part of the Lenbrook Group), which corrects timing errors during the digital-to-analogue conversion process to align the impulse response more closely with the original recording — improving transparency and transient accuracy beyond what the chipset alone achieves. An ES9826 SABRE ADC handles analogue-to-digital conversion on the analogue input with minimal noise or distortion, preserving signal integrity when the Node Icon is used with an external analogue source. The fully balanced signal path from the dual-mono DAC through to the XLR outputs allows the Node Icon to drive balanced preamplifiers, integrated amplifiers, and active speakers with maximum common-mode noise rejection.

THX AAA Headphone Technology, HDMI eARC, Dirac Live, and BluOS Streaming

The Node Icon's THX AAA (Achromatic Audio Amplifier) headphone amplifier represents the same feed-forward error correction technology used in professional reference monitoring equipment. Its patented architecture results in remarkably low noise and distortion, with output power measuring 150mW at 16 ohms and 235mW at 32 ohms, declining to 56mW at 250 ohms and 23mW at 600 ohms — suitable for a wide range of headphones from low-impedance IEMs to mid-impedance dynamic designs. Two full-sized 6.35mm headphone jacks — one on each side of the chassis — allow two listeners to enjoy the same source simultaneously. The HDMI eARC input enables direct connection to a television, routing TV audio including Dolby Digital soundtracks and streaming service audio through the Node Icon's DAC and analogue outputs to a connected amplifier. Dirac Live room correction is supported (licence purchase required), allowing acoustic calibration of the listening room's frequency and phase response for significantly improved bass definition and imaging. The BluOS streaming platform provides native access to Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify, Amazon Music HD, Deezer, iHeartRadio, TuneIn, and dozens of additional services, with dual-band Wi-Fi and Gigabit Ethernet for stable, skip-free hi-res streaming. AirPlay 2, aptX Adaptive Bluetooth, and Roon endpoint support round out the connectivity picture, and the Node Icon integrates with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple Siri for voice control.

How does the Bluesound Node Icon compare to the Cambridge Audio CXN100?

The Bluesound Node Icon and Cambridge Audio CXN100 are direct price competitors in the premium streamer category. The Node Icon adds THX AAA headphone amplification (two 6.35mm jacks), HDMI eARC input for television integration, Dirac Live room correction support, dual-mono DAC architecture, QRONO d2a timing correction, and aptX Adaptive Bluetooth — features absent from the CXN100. The CXN100 uses Cambridge Audio's ESS-based StreamMagic platform with a known emphasis on a spacious, wide soundstage that What Hi-Fi? reviewers note as a comparative advantage. The Node Icon won What Hi-Fi?'s 2025 award at their shared price point; the CXN100 held that award in 2024. Both are outstanding choices — the Node Icon suits those who need HDMI eARC, Dirac Live, or THX headphone amplification; the CXN100 suits those who prioritize Cambridge Audio's StreamMagic ecosystem.

What is THX AAA technology and why does it matter for headphone listening?

THX AAA (Achromatic Audio Amplifier) is a patented headphone amplifier circuit topology developed by THX that uses feed-forward error correction rather than conventional feedback. This approach corrects distortion before it occurs rather than after, resulting in what THX describes as the world's most linear headphone amplifier response — with noise and distortion levels far below conventional designs at equivalent power levels. The practical benefit is a more transparent, low-noise headphone listening experience with accurate soundstaging and detail resolution, particularly audible with high-performance headphones from Sennheiser, Audeze, HiFiMAN, and similar manufacturers.

What is Dirac Live and is it included with the Node Icon?

Dirac Live is a room acoustic correction technology that analyses the frequency and phase response of a listening room using a calibration microphone and applies correction filters to compensate for low-frequency room modes, reflections, and acoustic anomalies. The Node Icon is Dirac Live Ready — the hardware and software infrastructure for Dirac Live is built in — but a Dirac Live licence must be purchased separately from Dirac to activate the room correction functionality. Bluesound offers a compatible Mic Kit for the calibration measurement process.

Can the Bluesound Node Icon connect to a television?

Yes. The Node Icon's HDMI eARC input connects to the eARC-compatible HDMI port on a television, routing all TV audio — including streaming service audio from Netflix, Apple TV, Disney Plus, and similar services, as well as Dolby Digital surround content — through the Node Icon's dual-mono DAC and analogue outputs to a connected stereo amplifier. This makes the Node Icon the audio hub for both a dedicated hi-fi system and a television-based listening setup from a single component.

Does the Bluesound Node Icon support multi-room audio?

Yes. The Node Icon runs BluOS, Bluesound's proprietary whole-home audio platform, and communicates over the home network with all other Bluesound and BluOS-compatible components. Multiple zones can play the same content in perfect synchronization or different content simultaneously, all controlled from the BluOS Controller app on iOS, Android, or desktop. AirPlay 2 multi-room grouping with other AirPlay 2 devices is also fully supported.

OGLEA Trimmer: The Little Trimmer that could -- good grip, good glide, good for quick upkeep
Color: Pink
I ordered the OGLEA 2 in 1 Bikini Trimmer for Women to assist me with quick touch-ups between my regular shaving sessions with a manual razor. After using the OGLEA razor on my face, I am now thinking that this device will become my primary tool for keeping my unwanted mustache, sideburns, and chin hairs at bay. I specifically used the smaller sized shaving head on my facial skin, and I am incredibly pleased with how precisely it managed this task. My facial targets were the areas where this trimmer impressed me the most. Both heads glide smoothly, which helps make the shaving experience feel easy and efficient rather than awkward or harsh. The trimmer worked perfectly fine on my legs and underarms without causing me any redness, bumps, or skin irritation, although it did leave some noticeable stubble behind on my legs. This was not a surprise; I was not expecting a trimmer like this to leave my skin completely baby bottom smooth in the same way a close manual shave might. I also found that the OGLEA trimmer does a decent job when I use it on the “elsewhere” parts of my body. All my shaving experiences with this shaver have been in dry mode. I use my traditional manual shaver while I shower. I believe the OGLEA trimmer possesses excellent ergonomics because it feels like the perfect size and weight for my hands. I also find the bright pink color to be highly aesthetically pleasing. The battery life is fantastic, I grew tired of shaving before I even reached half of the remaining charge. I also love that the trimmer is amazingly easy for me to clean after each use, given that the design is somewhat waterproof and the manufacturer included a handy little cleaning brush in the box. My main reservation is the price. While the trimmer performs well and is pleasant to use, I would describe it as only a fair value at full price because there seem to be several similar trimmers available for less. That said, the coupons and a special savings offer available at the time I am writing this review in May 2026 make the price feel much more competitive and easier to justify.

Gentle, Easy to Use, and Great for Sensitive Areas
Color: Pink
This bikini trimmer works very well for quick and comfortable grooming without irritating sensitive skin. The dual-head design is useful because it gives flexibility for different areas like the bikini line, underarms, legs, and facial touch-ups. The ceramic blade feels much gentler compared to standard razors and helps reduce pulling, irritation, or razor bumps. One of the best features is the built-in LED light. It makes it much easier to see smaller hairs and improves precision, especially in areas that are harder to trim evenly. The digital display is also a nice modern touch since it clearly shows battery level and charging status instead of guessing when it needs to recharge. The cordless design makes the trimmer convenient to use anywhere, and the lightweight shape feels comfortable to hold and maneuver. It’s compact enough for travel while still feeling sturdy and well-made. The pink color gives it a clean and stylish appearance without looking cheap. Battery performance has been very good so far. It charges quickly and lasts through multiple grooming sessions before needing another charge. The trimmer also operates quietly compared to some louder electric razors. The ceramic blades cut smoothly without overheating or causing discomfort, even on more sensitive skin areas. Cleaning is simple, and switching between the heads is easy and straightforward. Value for money is excellent considering the dual-head functionality, LED lighting, digital display, rechargeable battery, and overall performance. It feels like a much more premium grooming tool than expected for the price. Overall, this is a gentle, versatile, and easy-to-use body trimmer with convenient features, good battery life, and comfortable performance for everyday grooming needs.

I love my pink lady 🩷
Color: Pink
I've always wanted a bikini trimmer but never but the bullet for some reason. I always use Gillette or Venus razors to shave every other day and I shave everything else once a week. Trimming is a little harder so typically I just shave but now I have the option 😉 this is such a cute double headed razor. The pink color is pastel and the rose gold accents look so feminine and pretty. It's certainly the small things that make me happy, clearly. I've used this a couple of times already and the razors are sharp and function properly without cutting my skin. They do a wonderful job at getting hair the exact length wanted and the circle razor on the other end gets a super close shave! I love the USB charging capability and that it's so much easier than plugging it in. It seems to charge quick and I can get maybe 20 minutes of shave time till it's charge starts to plummet. I've used in the shower and it is indeed waterproof. Once I'm done, I make sure to dry it off and let it air dry on a towel before I store it in its own bag. The razor itself feels nice and secure in my hands & also isn't easily dropped when I'm using it. It doesn't have a grip perse, but I do think the diameter of the handle does help assist. The price is also really reasonable for the quality that is received. Overall, this is a wonderful dual headed razor and I love all the options it has. Whether I'm wanting a close shave or just a trim, this does it all! Would highly recommend ✔️

Works better than more expensive ones
Color: Pink
This shaver surprisingly works really well. I don't really have hair long enough to use an electric shaver, but the other end, the foil type shaver works really well, even on very short hair. It left my skin actually smooth, which is better than most of these types of shavers, which leave it close to smooth but actually kind of just really short, so you can feel it even if you can't see it. This felt much smoother than other shavers I've tried. I like that there's less skin damage than a razor. It's smaller than is shown in the photos, which is actually good because it's better for travel. In the photos, it looks comically large, but it just looks like a normal pink shaver in person. It's actually a good size for every day use. It would probably be okay for travel, but it's definitely not mini. It would probably be good for keeping an undercut fresher. The price, at $30, is lower than many other brands that I've seen/tried. I've tried several with $50 price tags that are only the foil end and didn't work as well as this one, and we're half the shaver this one is. At least on first impression, this is a good quality and decent value. Hopefully, it stands the test of time. Update: I was not planning on using it for this, but my very fat and old cat gets the occasional knot in the spring when he's shedding, and OMG, this is the best shaver I've used on a cat. It glides like butter to skin short. It takes a literal second. This thing is amazing.

Buyer Beware
Color: Blue
Product comes with no instructions on how to operate it , just a small enclosure telling you how to disassemble it. Mine would not work even after I charged it.
