1876/95 British .303cal Martini-Enfield Rifle Socket BayonetRecovered from the Egyptian Citadel armory in the 1970s, these are 21 inch triangular bladed 1876 Martini Henry Rifle socket bayonets, converted in 1895 to fit . 303cal Martini Enfield rifles. The conversion from the original . 450 . 577 Martini Henry caliber allowed both the rifles and therefore the bayonets to see further service in the empire, utilizing the modern . 303 British ammunition. Internal diameter of the socket is approximately 17mm.
