The Homo Sapiens Dark Crystal is an exceptional fountain pen, showcasing all of the unique benefits of the original, award-winning Homo Sapiens with several upgrades and modifications:
- Smoky Crystal Ink Chamber: The most discernible modification to the body of the pen is the addition of a large transparent window made from acrylic resin. A large section of lava has been cut out of the pens body and replaced with a piece of smoky acrylic tube, transforming the pen into a demonstrator with a unique appearance and identity. This 'oversize' window offers the user a view of stored ink inside the pen and the pens 'double reservoir' power filling system
- Double Reservoir: The original Homo Sapiens featured Visconti's 'single reservoir' power filling system. The Dark Crystal is upgraded to Visconti's patented 'double reservoir' power filler, a vacuum filling system that is easy to use and has considerable benefits. Patented in 1998, this is arguably the most advanced filling system ever developed in fountain pen history. The user is able to fill the pen with the equivalent of 10 cartridges of ink, and thanks to the two reservoirs, prevents ink from leaking during air travel.
- Smoky Crystal Ring: The final change is the small ring around the pens grip section. Metal has been replaced with smoky acrylic resin, offering a view of stored ink in the pens second smaller ink reservoir.
As with the original Homo Sapiens, the Dark Crystal is made from volcanic lava rock making the pen virtually unbreakable, naturally hygroscopic and very comfortable to write with. All trims are made from steel with ruthenium plating and the cap closes with Visconti's patented 'hook safe lock'. The Homo Sapiens Dark Crystal is a must-have for every Visconti pen enthusiast.
Available as a fountain pen only, featuring Visconti's buttery smooth, in-house, 18kt gold nib in black to match the color of the pen's trims, available in EF, F, M, B, and Stub.

My Go-To Sublimation Paper — Flawless Results Every Time

This is hands down the best sublimation paper I’ve used and the only one I continue to buy. I get a perfect transfer every single time—no fracturing, no fading, and no uneven results. The paper dries fast, which makes my workflow so much smoother, especially when I’m producing items in batches.
I use this regularly to make air fresheners and tote bags for my small business, and the color payoff is always vibrant and crisp. The transfer rate is excellent, and it works beautifully on light-colored, high-quality polyester and other sublimation-ready surfaces.

Best Sublimation Paper

I’ve been using A-Sub paper for my sublimation projects, and it is easily one of the best. The ink dries almost instantly once printed, so I don’t have to worry about smudging the design or getting those annoying "pizza wheel" marks from the printer rollers. The paper itself feels substantial and doesn't tear or curl easily. One of the biggest wins for me is that it never jams; it feeds through perfectly every time, saving me the frustration of wasting expensive ink and paper.
When I go to press my designs, the ink releases almost completely, leaving very little behind on the paper and putting all that color onto the project. The final results look super professional, with colors that are vibrant and sharp rather than looking faded or dull. It has worked perfectly for everything I’ve tried so far, and if you want a reliable paper that gives you consistent, high-quality results, this is definitely the one to get.
