Racecadotril is an enteric antisecretory agent, it works by reducing the secretion of water and electrolytes in the small intestine, with limited activity in the small intestine, caused by cholera toxin or inflammation without affecting the excretion activity. This helps to reduce the amount of fluid loss from the body in diarrhea. Hidrasec Infant sachets can be used as a complementary symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea in infants older than 3 months together with oral rehydration salt (ORS). If casual treatment of acute diarrhea is possible, racecadotril can be co-administered.
