PRODUCT OVERVIEW:

What makes this product different?
The UHP2383 brings a European-inspired architectural influence, blending rustic wood tones with a sleek metallic frame for a balanced modern farmhouse appeal. Unlike typical pendants that rely on simple glass shades, its open cube-meets-sphere silhouette with exposed candelabra sockets creates a dramatic interplay of light and form. The dual-tone construction highlights artisanal craftsmanship, while its omni-directional glow delivers both warmth and statement-making illumination, setting it apart from more conventional single-finish fixtures.

Why is this product worth the price?
The UHP2383 Leeds pendant light justifies its price through a blend of enduring quality and distinctive design. Its substantial 11.37 lb weight speaks to the robust steel construction, promising lasting durability. The European-inspired design, featuring a unique blend of wood tones and metallic finishes, elevates any space with a modern farmhouse aesthetic. This fixture is a testament to quality craftsmanship, evident in the meticulously crafted details. The Leeds pendant light's adjustable height and compatibility with a variety of bulbs allows for customized illumination, creating ambiance while remaining a timeless investment.

What value does this product offer over similar options?
The UHP2383 brings European craftsmanship home through its distinctive wood-and-metal framework that competitors simply mimic with plastic veneers. While standard farmhouse pendants feel flimsy and one-dimensional, this Leeds fixture's steel construction and dual-toned finish create architectural depth that evlolves as light plays across its surfaces. The dramatically curved arms and candelabra styling deliver warm, inviting illumination that mass-market alternatives can't match, all protected by Urban Ambiance's trusted UA Guarantee.

COLLECTION DESCRIPTION:

The European-inspired Leeds collection bears the marks of ancient history with an ultramodern twist. The clean open design leverages dual toning to weave a rustic appeal into a contemporary structure.A thin rectangular framework, the fixture features a wood-toned square top and base finely encasing metallic-toned frame rods. The rods spread beyond the framework’s peaks instantly sparking an industrial voice. Centrally, a straight stem matching the rods’ tone drops midair to spew dramatically curved socket arms. Crowning the arms are classically thinned and elongated sleeves perfectly depicting a charming interior silhouette.Available in Olde Bronze and Brushed Nickel as pendants.

I love VSI on Kindle
Format: eTextbook
The thing is they take a long time to read because of the look up feature. It's like reading a book in the Library of Congress.

There are few who are capable of telling the story ...
Format: Paperback
There are few who are capable of telling the story of plate techtonics including critical details. Peter Molnar is one of those chosen few who can deliver such a story succinctly and precisely.

Very nice, but very short, book on the subject.
Format: Paperback
This is a very nice, but very short, book on the subject. I learned quite a bit and enough to delve into structural geology and related subjects.

Excellent 120 pages book on a complex subject.
Format: Paperback
I thought this was an excellent 120 pages book on a complex subject. It discusses a variety of subjects besides the title of plate tectonics and which are related to it: continental drift, oceanic seafloor spreading, fracture zones, subduction of tectonic plate edges, faulting, the creation of mountains and plateaus, earthquakes, volcanism, oceanic magnetic anomalies, and the locations of concentrated metallic ores. The text is accompanied by almost 40 sketches and diagrams elaborating on the discussions provided in the text. The book also introduces the grand concepts of Earth geology such as the mantle, lithosphere, and asthenosphere. It also provides a short history of the development of the concept of plate tectonics. Finally, the book provides specific detailed descriptions of the formation of major mountain ranges and plateaus such as the Himalayas, the Tibetan Plateau, Tien Shan, the Tarim Basin, the movement of Eastern Asia, the Andes, and the western US mountain ranges. It also gives a short description of the movement of India from the eastern edge of the African Plate to the Eurasian Plate over the past 90+ million years.

Books like this have to be leavened with a human dimension ...
Format: Paperback
This book is too technical for people who are new to the subject of plate tectonics. In fact, I think it is fair to say that if you can understand this book you don't need to read it but if you need to read it you won't understand it. Books like this have to be leavened with a human dimension in the form of stories about people. This book has such stories but they are very brief and tend to get burried under the tecnical detail. There are other books in the "A Very Short Introduction" series which give far more accessible introductions to plate tectonic (e.g. "Earth Science: A Very Short Introduction"). I would suggest that anyone who was entirely new to the subject should read one of them instead.
