INTRODUCTION:

Welcome to the Make Timber Joints Using Hand & Portable Power Tools course. This course only includes a challenge assessment designed to assess your knowledge and skills required to demonstrate competence in identifying timber jointing requirements, selecting and using tools, equipment, materials, adhesives and fasteners, marking, measuring, cutting, constructing, checking and rectifying timber joints using hand and portable power tools in accordance with workplace requirements.

Making timber joints using hand and portable power tools involves interpreting work instructions, confirming the required joint type, finished product purpose and style, selecting suitable timber materials and joining products, applying workplace health and safety requirements and using accurate marking, measuring, cutting and assembly techniques. In real workplace practice, this skill area is important because timber joints must be accurately formed, properly fitted, securely fastened or bonded and checked for alignment, neatness, tolerance, gaps, play and strength to support the quality and durability of the finished product.

The course assessment focuses on your ability to identify timber joint task requirements, joint type, finished product purpose and style; apply WHS requirements; select and check hand tools, portable power tools and equipment; select timber materials, adhesives and fasteners; mark cutting and joining lines; measure lengths and angles, complete basic calculations and check tolerances; construct timber joints to workplace requirements; use fasteners and adhesives to produce firm joints; produce joints for box, carcass, drawer and frame construction; make dowel, mortice and tenon, dovetail, lap, biscuit, finger, housing, mitre and bridle joints; check finished joints for alignment, neatness, tolerance, gaps, play and strength; rectify deficiencies and report faults; and complete cleaning, waste disposal, recycling, tool maintenance and task documentation.

By successfully completing this course assessment, you will have demonstrated that you can make timber joints using hand and portable power tools by interpreting task requirements, applying safety procedures, selecting and checking suitable tools, equipment and materials, accurately marking, measuring, calculating, cutting, joining and assembling timber components, producing required joint types, checking finished joint quality, rectifying or reporting faults and completing workplace clean-up, waste, recycling, maintenance and documentation activities.

Attractive, well-made functional storage
Color: Dusty Blue, Size: 2 Layers, 20 Hooks
I'm quite happy with this product. It's an orderly and attractive way to store a lot of jewelry. I've put my favorites in the visible front drawer and can easily see the rest by pulling out the back drawer. I looked at a similar storage box with see-through panels on both sides, but it didn't look quite as well made and you'd have to turn it around to see side B (i.e., no less work than pulling out the back drawer). This unit feels well put together, looks nice, and sits stably on top my dresser. I'm only using it for chain-and-pendant style necklaces (leaving the bulkier stuff in an upright acrylic spoke-style container) but have it fully loaded and have doubled up on a few pegs. None of the pegs bent while I was adding pieces.

Fantastic Necklace Organiser
Color: White, Size: 2 Layers, 20 Hooks
This is a great necklace organiser It has helped me keep all my necklaces in order - putting gold on one tray and silver the other. Keeps them for getting all tangled up and looks super nice. Not to mention the slim design doesn’t take up much space. Love it!!
