ABC's of Beekeeping — The Complete Australian Beekeeping Book by Arthur Garske

Are you a new or more experienced beekeeper? Then this is the book for you — packed with 56 years of beekeeping skills and knowledge. It contains loads of tips and, most importantly, tells you what, when and how to do it.

About the Author:

Arthur Garske has over 56 years of beekeeping experience as a hobbyist, sideliner, honey exhibitor and honey judge at clubs and the Royal Sydney Agricultural Show. His greatest passion has always been sharing the knowledge and expertise he has gleaned from learned professional beekeepers and his own trial and error in the field.

Endorsement:

The book is very clear on how to adapt best management practices based on the author's experiences over many years, and gives plenty of tips.

Bruce White, Retired Technical Specialist, NSW DPI

About the Book:

This book is a journey of practical beekeeping skills and the people Arthur has interacted with throughout his career. Unlike other bee books, it combines technical information with clear guidance on what to do, how to do it and when to do it. Stories of learning, observation and hands-on apprenticeship are woven throughout.

Beekeeping in the hot dry interior of New South Wales presents unique challenges. These are discussed openly, along with the solutions — because working in that environment meant becoming a student of nature.

Whether you are just starting out or looking to expand your operation, the book covers what a new beekeeper needs to know before they begin, as well as hints and tips to help more experienced keepers work more efficiently and manage more hives.

A chapter on biosecurity and code of practice covers what all Australian beekeepers are legally required to know. And since Varroa has become endemic in Australia, there is also a dedicated chapter on Varroa management and treatment methods — something no other Australian beekeeping book currently includes.

Interspersed between chapters are short stories titled Unexpected Happenings — real events from Arthur's trips to his hives, located over 600 km from his suburban home.

Fit is ok
They are a definite improvement from my original 22 year old grills but they have some clear differences in quality of the chroming, if you compare oem to these side by side the oem grills look smoother. also they don't fit great at least not on my car, albeit with a bit of nudging they fit pretty close to the originals. Overall not bad for something that is a quarter of the price of the oem part

Looks terrific - great price
I needed to replace just one, but ended up using both the left and right so that they matched. In the closeup picture you can see that the original part is chrome with black on the inside edges of the fins, where the replacement is all chrome. This is only obvious up close if you're looking for it. There is also a slight gap in the fit at the lower inside corner - so not perfect, but also not noticable at any reasonable distance. Wide shots shows both replacement parts installed. As others have mentioned, this is not the same quality as the original BMW part - but at 1/4 of the price, it is a darn good value and has restored the look of my car. FOR 2003 CONVERTIBLE OWNERS: This part fits the "pre-facelift" model manufactured through March 2003. I learned this the hard way, because I didn't know about the facelift that came half a year later for cabriolets than it did for hard top models. Make sure you know which side of that manufacturing date your 2003 convertible is on before ordering.

Buy OEM
Finish is fine but sizing is wrong and these don't fit tight but rattle. About 3/4" movement in all ways, which will lead to scratched paint. If you've got a beater, these are fine but for my clean M3, I'll buy OEM from FCP or Turner.
