After the tremendous success of the 1950's Dubrovnik set , this design underwent several revisions to increase its play ability, including improving the shape of the knight and a wider rook. After the tremendous success of the 1950's Dubrovnik set , this design underwent several revisions to increase its play ability, including improving the shape of the knight and a wider rook.
The bases of all the pieces have been made chunkier and fatter. In fact this set is the heaviest in its class.
The design has been reconstructed using photographs of various antique original versions of the set.
Renowned Chess Grandmaster Bobby Fischer famously master once quoted - "This is the best set I have ever played on. It is marvelous."

Super Low Quality/Unacceptable QC

I spent probably about an hour putting it together, only to take it right back apart and pack it up to return. The dimples for half the poles were on the wrong side (double and triple checked to make sure they couldn't be spun around. The threaded ends for the wheels were freely spinning on all but 2 wheels, making it impossible to actually tighten them fully. Once it was all put together, the screens could not be folded up to neatly put it aside when not in use. All in all, this was shamefully low quality for the money spent.
