The swallow has long been a symbol of safe passage, faithful return, and messages carried with care. In maritime tradition, its appearance signaled land ahead. Sailors marked their journeys with swallow tattoos, one earned after five thousand nautical miles, a second after another five thousand. 

Beyond navigation, the swallow came to embody fidelity through departure and reunion. Swallows migrate immense distances and yet return, season after season, to the same places. Their loyalty is proven by the journey itself.

In letters and folklore, the swallow signified messages carried across distance with devotion. It departs, but it knows the way home. In this work, the swallow bears a sealed letter. The image speaks to the unseen moment between sender and recipient.

The fine art work is housed in a shadow frame, allowing the impression to exist with depth. On the reverse, the work is signed and accompanied by a private letter from the artist, completing the work as an object of beauty and companionship within the home.
