- close the fuel tap by pulling the fuel tap lever
- carefully lay the bike on its side to help prevent coolant from dripping out of the water pump cover when removing the bolts
- loosen and remove the original water pump cover bolts
- position the Jitsie water pump cover protector over the original water pump cover
- reinstall and tighten the bolts (⚠️ do not overtighten the bolts)
- check that there is no coolant leaking after installation (if so, tighten the bolts slightly more)
