As the nearest RAF station to Occupied Europe, the airfield at Hawkinge in Kent found itself quite literally on the frontline during the Second World War. However, Hawkinge's association with British military aviation began more than two decades earlier, during the First World War. Already a pre-war airfield, it was in 1915 that the land was requisitioned for use by the Royal Fling Corps. The first personnel arrived a few months later to serve at was initially named Folkestone Field. Mainly used as a base for transporting aircraft across to France and the Western Front, a name change to Hawkinge Aeroplane Dispatch Station soon followed, at which point its remit also included the transportation of supplies to troops in France and Belgium. It was following the re-organisation of the RAF in 1923 that Hawkinge underwent the next stage in its development. New hangars and operations buildings were erected, with water and communications systems installed. The airfield's role changed to that of training for both RAF and the Army; 25 Squadron was the first full squadron to be based at Hawkinge. In the first months of the Second World War, airfield was re-designated as a Fighter Station in No.11 Group, following which the first Hurricanes from 3 Squadron arrived on 19 December 1939. Throughout the Battle of France and into the Dunkirk evacuation Hawkinge played a vital role providing around the clock air-cover for Allied forces. But it was in the summer of 1940 that Hawkinge endured its finest hour'. The first Luftwaffe attack on Hawkinge occurred on 12 August. Despite widespread damage, the grass runways were quickly repaired, ensuring that the Spitfires and Hurricanes which used it as a forward base were soon operating again. Despite the Luftwaffe's best efforts, Hawkinge remained operational throughout the war. As the RAF went on the offensive in 1941, Hawkinge had a vital part to play in maintaining these missions against Goering's forces - both as a location to refuel on the way out, or a place of refuge on the return, both for fighters and bombers alike, including those of the USAAF following America's entry into the war. Following the war, the fighter base was officially closed on 3 September 1945. In 1964 the Ministry of Defence sold the land, although for a short while in 1968, memories of the war were invoked with the airfield's use in the making of the classic film Battle of Britain. Only a small corner of the original site has survived and is today home to the renowned Kent Battle of Britain Museum.

Impressed!
Color: 02 - Untinted (1.7 oz)
Just got back from a week in Florida at Disney World and this sunscreen was fantastic. I have spent hours researching different products, reading reviews and trying different things and decided to try this on my mature, acne prone skin. I applied it in the morning before leaving the hotel and once more in the middle of the day and it protected my skin from the extreme heat and sun and did not cause any breakouts. It did not run and does not cause a white cast. I would highly recommend this product!

A Daily Essential – Lightweight & Fast-Absorbing
Color: 02 - Untinted (1.7 oz)
I've made this my go-to sunscreen and use it every single day. What sets it apart is the texture – it's smooth and applies beautifully without any sticky residue, which is a game-changer for daily wear under makeup or on its own. The absorption is impressively fast. I can apply it in the morning and not feel like I'm waiting around for it to dry down. It sinks in quickly and leaves my skin feeling clean and protected, not weighed down. For sensitive skin, this is exactly what I needed. This is a must-have in my routine. Highly recommend if you're looking for a lightweight, non-sticky sunscreen that actually works.

Good price
Size: 50 Fl Oz (Pack of 1), Scent: Gentle & Mild
Most Amazon basics items are of decent quality and this is no exception. Nothing fancy just a decent hand soap with typical viscosity that will work in just about any dispenser including automatic dispensers. Most importantly it does a good job cleaning the hands without leaving your hands all sticky and gooey after washing. Yeah. That really is a thing. I've used hand soaps that after rinsing and drying your left with "gheco hands" like you can pick up a penny with your knuckle. No chemical or overpowering odor. One odd thing. The original order came in a box that looked like the Amazon loader threw it into the back of the van from about 50 feet away .... The bottles cap was destroyed and the soap had leaked into the box. Amazon quickly replaced the item with a new bottle no charge and didn't expect me to return the damaged bottle of course. Thing is the second box came in the same condition. Looked like the punter for the Ravens drop kicked it from the 30 into the back of the truck. Luckily the bottle was undamaged this time.

Convenient refill that lasts a long time
Size: 50 Fl Oz (Pack of 1), Scent: Gentle & Mild
I bought this hand soap refill to save money and reduce plastic waste, and overall I’ve been very pleased with it. The soap has a pleasant scent that isn’t too strong, and it leaves my hands feeling clean without making them feel dry afterward. I also like how easy it is to refill existing dispensers instead of constantly buying new bottles. The large refill size lasts much longer than expected, which is convenient for a busy household. However, pouring the soap into smaller dispensers can be a little messy if you’re not careful. The packaging is somewhat bulky as well. Overall, it’s an economical and practical option that works very well for everyday hand washing.

Great product at even greater price!
Size: 50 Fl Oz (Pack of 2), Scent: Milk & Honey
This hand soap works very well, has a great scent, and costs less than half of inferior national brands. I have purchased 4 large refill bottles so far.
