Here is what you get with our 2200cc engine kit:

• Reconditioned OEM crankshaft, 76mm stroke*

• New hydraulic lifters

IMPORTANT NOTE: The engine block assembly (case) may need to be hand-machined for added clearance for the 2mm larger, 96mm piston at bottom dead center (BDC). The case is made from cast aluminum, and no two are exactly the same. There is no "blue print" or "program" to achieve this—it has to be done by hand by a very experienced and talented individual—please read this article for more information. The crankshaft/rod assembly, cylinder, and piston must be test-fitted repeatedly to ensure that the clearance is correct and adequate, while at the same time not going too far and maintaining the cleanliness required for any successful engine rebuild.

EMISSIONS INFORMATION: This Gowesty 2200cc Engine Kit (GVW-2200-KIT) has received an official California Air Resources Board (CARB) Executive Order #D-786-3, and is smog-legal in all 50 states.

Core Charge

Some of these parts are sold "exchange," which means that we need to get your old parts back for rebuilding. These parts have a "core charge" associated with them. You pay this core charge up front, and then we credit you when we receive your old parts for rebuilding. In some cases, some or all of your core charge may be forfeited if a part is not in rebuildable condition.

NOTE: If you have a 1.9 engine, we DO NOT want your CRANK core. You will forfeit that part of your core charge—no need to send that item back.

Octane Requirements

This engine OK to run on 87 or higher octane fuel.

GoWesty recommends the highest octane you can get, even if your engine is rated to operate on a lower octane. The 2300cc MUST have 89 octane minimum. The other engines can run lower octane. It can NEVER hurt to use fuel of a higher octane than the minimum recommended, whereas using a lower octane can cause catastrophic engine failure. Fuel is all so expensive now, and the percent difference in cost between the lowest and highest octane is almost insignificant. Bottom line: It just does not make sense to use the lower octane stuff!
