In wonder and gratitude, prize-winning photographer John Moran travels the Sunshine State with his cameras, seeking his vision of natural Florida as it must have appeared to Ponce de Leon and other early strangers in paradise. This remarkable collection of images and essays celebrates the magic of a landscape born of water, he writes, and "blessed with beauty beyond measure." The book caps Moran's 20-year odyssey to discover the soul of one of the most photographed states in the country. Still, he says, for a photographer who works on the road, he doesn't get around very much. The outer limits of his travels ordinarily are defined by places close to home, with names like Live Oak, Cedar Key, and Micanopy. Working mostly in north and central Florida, Moran says his pictures consecrate a region "steeped in blackwater swamps and rivers, populated by egrets and alligators."Keenly aware that much of the state's wilderness has all but vanished, his pictures sometimes only suggest the illusion of unspoiled nature. "I can't tell you how often I've had to recompose my pictures to eliminate a beer can or a bed mattress or worse in the woods," he writes. At times, he's made his best pictures literally within sight of his car, "aware of my own impact on the land, mindful of the myth of untainted nature that I promote with my camera." He's also worked in unconventional situations, lying inside a homemade PVC pipe-and-burlap blind to photograph dancing sandhill cranes and perching inside a bucket truck 50 feet aboveground to photograph nesting ospreys. The companion essays reflect Moran's philosophy about both nature and photography, and they weave together personal narrative, natural history, and photo-technical instruction. They include commentary about the actual moment he snapped each picture, factual information about the place, and sometimes a historical perspective on the setting by such well-known writers and naturalists as William Bartram and Archie Carr. Moran emphasizes "making" pictures as opposed to casually taking them, and writes that his job can't be done without a plan and a specific set of tools and materials. But, he says, his job "isn't always about the picture, it's about the experience of just being there, chasing the light; alive and awake and aware." And he recalls some of the best advice he ever received: before you focus your camera, first focus yourself.Shipping Notes

Great sock for everyday
Size: Large, Color: Black/Gray (6 Pairs)
So these are awesome but they are slightly thinner than older versions, shorter too. Just FYI if you a long time UA customer.
If you have never had their socks, I love them personally and only like one other brand better. They aren’t overly thick and they allow your feet to breath. I never have sweaty feet in these even in my warm boots. I also like that they don’t cut into my feet or get holes in the toes over long terms. The only reason I’ve thrown these out has been fraying near the ankle or someone (kids) thieving them.

My favorite low socks ever
Fit Type: Classic Fit, Color: Gray Assorted, Size: Large
Under armour adult essential Lite no-show socks are 96% polyester and 4% spandex footwear of imported origin. The polyester content of the socks enables them to hold their shape in a better manner along with having a non-absorbent nature. Additionally, it enables the socks to retain the colour in a better manner. Spandex improves their fit along with helping them last for longer time.
The flat fit construction of UA Men's Essential Lite is so designed to conform to foot for superior touch and feel. The material wicks engineered within the fabric dry sweat quickly and keep the feet fresh. The embedded arch support further keeps you going by reducing foot fatigue. The set comes with 6 pairs of socks with pull on closure for the perfect fit.
Ultrathin lightweight construction of the socks adds to user comfort by allowing users to conduct physical activity and work out while wearing it. Elastic strength of the socks prevents them from slipping down irrespective of the shoes they are worn with.
The socks come in 8-12 men shoe size and 9-12 women shoe size. They can be machine washed and are extremely durable while being cost effective.
I ordered the socks based on their colour and design symmetry. So far my socks have been through multiple washes and still look new and user ready. I wear them daily because of their amazing fit and plan to buy more as Christmas gifts.

Love these socks!
Fit Type: Classic Fit, Color: Black, Size: Large
They are a little on the thin side, but that is how I like them. Thin, comfortable, breathable, but still sturdy. They work great for me and I have bought them several times for me and my kids over the years.

Thin
Fit Type: Classic Fit, Color: Gray Assorted, Size: Medium
I bought these thinking they would be slightly thicker material. They are thin but don't make my feet sweat working outside in the heat while wearing them during my work shift. They are comfortable and stay in place so I don't have to keep fishing for them inside my shoe to move them up a bit.
The one thing I wish they had was the support band in the middle of the foot.
