About the Workshop

This in-person workshop is taught by CBA instructor Sarah Nicholls.

Over five weeks, students will work on binding an edition of 5 books, containing their own writing and images. Before the workshop, the instructor will send instructions to students to help them prepare printed sheets for binding. We will collate, fold, sew, and make custom covers for their books. Options include foil stamped titles and insets for images on the front cover. Students will hone their editioning skills and methods through the guidance of the instructor. Students will leave with an edition of their work and the skills to continue working on their own.

Required Materials

  • Olfa knife (X-acto blade will also work)
  • Awl
  • Bone folder
  • Scissors
  • Glue brushes
  • Pencil
  • Spring dividers (optional)
  • Signatures for binding. Students will prep printed pages before class, and I will provide a handout before the workshop begins to guide them through this process. They should print their pages on any text weight paper they prefer, but the grain direction should run in the short direction. I will provide information about grain direction and paper suggestions before class.

All other materials will be provided by Center for Book Arts at no additional cost.

Easy to handle
Style: Lawn Edger w/(1) 4.0 Ah Battery
This is fantastic. It was a breeze to put together, the battery lasts a good 45 minutes or more, it is easy to handle, and does a terrific job of edging the concrete driveway. the roadside curb, and the borders of my flower beds. It is not too heavy and has loads of power. I am a 5'1" woman 81 years old and this tool is very easy for me to use and carry. The size is not too long even for me to maneuver. It is easy to lean if you get clumps of dirt in the housing for the blade and it is adjustable to suit the depth needed at the time. It seems very well made. The price was reasonable and I think we may be friends for quite a whole.

Right tool for the money
Style: Lawn Edger w/(1) 4.0 Ah Battery
Very impressed with this WORX Cordless Lawn Edger. My driveway have never been edged in over 30 years, this edger handled the job with ease, made a pass at one inch and then two inches. My driveway is 80 feet long, after the two passes I was left with one bar of battery power, great tool for the price. I would definitely recommend this product to any home owner that maintains their own yard.

Great battery powered edger
Style: Lawn Edger w/(1) 4.0 Ah Battery
This edger works great love the guide for along sidewalks and curbside lawns. It is a little underpowered for really thick lawns battery goes down fairly fast on the thicker areas but all in all it’s great

The blade is not sharpen.
Style: Lawn Edger w/(1) 4.0 Ah Battery
I had no problems assembling the equipment. The problem is with the blade. It doesn't have any sharpen. I bough spares blades which have a different configuration and better edge. However I haven't been able to unscrew the bolt in order to install the new blade. It is extremely tied. One would think that you purchase this equipment, at a high price, and would be able to use it right away. In your dream. This is a Third World Country selling things at an incredible high prices, for the profit of the American companies using the manpower of other Third World Countries or China. Since the blade is not sharp, when you try to use the equipment it got disconnected. Therefore it does not work with the blade that comes from the manufacturer. Total disaster.

Worx very well!
Style: Lawn Edger w/(1) 4.0 Ah Battery
Worx very well. ;) More power than I expected from a 20v cordless machine. And with the 4Ahr battery it comes with, I was able to do the drive, walks, and patio without having to change batteries. I own 2 Worx string trimmers, chainsaw, hedge trimmer, drill impact driver, and leaf blower. Love them all.
