Menswear Mavericks takes readers on an immersive journey through the timeless pieces that have defined men's fashion, blending historical roots with contemporary relevance. This book is a celebration of iconic garments, from rugged workwear and cowboy chic to military essentials and high-flying aviation styles. It offers an in-depth exploration of how each piece transcended its practical origins to become a staple in the wardrobes of style-conscious rebels, athletes, musicians, and adventurers alike.

Beginning with the rough-hewn origins of denim, the book moves through the heart of Americana with five-pocket jeans, chore coats, and the legendary white tee. The narrative then spans across continents and industries, following the cowboy jackets, plaid flannels, and ranch-inspired clothing that left an indelible mark on fashion. Military pieces like the trench coat, M-65 field jacket, and the peacoat unfold their storied pasts, revealing how they seamlessly entered civilian wardrobes. The exploration further deepens with the sartorial heritage of the Navy and the timeless allure of the Breton and the duffle coat, as well as the adventurous appeal of safari jackets and waxed cotton motorcycle jackets.

Menswear Mavericks also showcases how sportswear, with the likes of the polo shirt and Henley, evolved from athletic utility to casual essentials, breaking down barriers between leisure and fashion. This thematic journey is completed with a look at contemporary classics like the varsity sweatshirt, versatile baseball caps, and the enduring allure of the Perfecto jacket, which made its way from the backs of motorcyclists to movie stars and rock icons.

Each chapter delves into the historical context, transformative cultural moments, and the pioneering brands that continue to shape the story of men's fashion. With every page, readers are invited to embrace the legacy, innovation, and spirit of individuality that define these iconic garments.

This book is more than a guide; it is an ode to those who have made style their statement, carrying the legacy of the maverick spirit into the modern age. Whether you're a seasoned fashion aficionado or someone looking to build a versatile wardrobe, Menswear Mavericks offers insights and inspiration for all who appreciate the art of timeless style.

An admiring but not uncritical portrait of a titan in the rule of law
Format: Hardcover
Professor White delivers an admiring but not uncritical portrait of a man who stood for qualities and principles now in short supply. Jackson was a leading practitioner when other judges were more political, but nevertheless had to speak the language of the rule of law. And his contributions at Nuremberg, haphazardly portrayed in the recent movie, really come through . The United States would help establish a record of epic misdeeds and show that the perpetrators could be punished in a system of justice.

Comprehensive and compelling
Format: Hardcover
With this volume, Mc Coy firmly establishes himself as a historian whose far sightedness only improves with age. A robust story teller, he demonstrates an uncanny ability to ferret the secrets out of arcane documents and records and connect the dots into a compelling narrative. Here he shows how the best and worst of political and military strategy in the US and the other cold war powers shaped the course of global events in profound ways. The lessons for us today simply leap from the page. This is a must read for any thoughtful observer of today’s world.

Brilliant until last two chapters
Format: Kindle
A riveting well researched deep dive into the cold war up through the 1980s. The later chapters following the collapse of the Soviet Union seem to have been hurriedly written and only superficially cover events, particularly so as relates to Russia.
