COURSE OVERVIEW:

Welcome to the Gaining Competitive Advantage through TQM course. This program explores how Total Quality Management (TQM) functions as a strategic organisational approach that strengthens competitiveness, enhances customer satisfaction and drives sustainable performance. By focusing on quality as the foundation for excellence, organisations can minimise errors, reduce costs, streamline processes, and create long-term value. This introduction examines the meaning of quality, the principles underpinning TQM, and the organisational conditions required to transform quality into a sustainable competitive advantage.

This course begins by defining the characteristics of a strong competitive advantage and linking them to the meaning and value of quality within an organisation. You will examine how quality influences products, services, processes and organisational culture, and why putting the customer first is fundamental to TQM. This learning area explores how customers exist internally and externally, how organisations themselves act as customers, and how quality becomes a shared responsibility across all roles, functions and levels.

Another learning area examines the principles, philosophy and practices of Total Quality Management. This includes the process model, the concept of “quality is free,” and the central role of prevention over correction. You will explore the comparative value of prevention, appraisal and failure costs, the importance of reducing variation, and the goal of achieving zero defects. This section further considers the conditions that allow quality initiatives to succeed, the pitfalls that cause them to fail, and the role of empowerment and training in building strong quality-driven teams.

A further learning area explores business processes and the importance of process management in TQM. This includes what business processes are, why they exist and how they contribute to organisational outcomes. You will examine the concept of process entropy, the framework for process management, and the steps required to get organised for process improvement. This section also introduces process mapping techniques—including integrated flowcharts, layout flowcharts and deployment flowcharts—along with their advantages, limitations and applications in improving process visibility.

Another learning area examines how to identify and implement process improvements using structured diagnostic and analytical tools. You will explore streamlining practices, error-proofing, the critical examination matrix, and the fishbone diagram as a root cause analysis tool. This learning area also examines process cycle time, the importance of understanding customer expectations and the spectrum of business process improvement efforts that organisations implement to strengthen operational efficiency and quality outcomes.

A further learning area explores measurement in TQM and the essential role of data-driven decision making. You will examine why measurement matters, what to measure, when to measure and who should be involved in measurement activities. This section introduces approaches for collecting, analysing and using measurement data effectively to support continual improvement. You will also explore how feedback systems support organisational learning and performance adjustment across all levels and functions.

Another learning area examines benchmarking and its strategic relevance to TQM. You will explore why benchmarking is essential, how it identifies performance gaps and opportunities for improvement, and how organisations can benchmark processes, performance metrics and quality outcomes against competitors or industry leaders. This learning area outlines the steps involved in conducting benchmarking activities and the benefits of systematic comparison for ongoing organisational improvement and competitive advantage.

By the end of this course, you will understand the foundations of Total Quality Management, recognise how quality creates competitive advantage, apply analytical tools to identify and improve processes, develop the capability to measure and benchmark performance, and support the implementation of sustainable quality initiatives that strengthen organisational excellence and long-term success.

Great and solid chew toy for those "eager" chewers!
Color: Blue Shark, Size: Medium, Color: Blue Shark, Size: Medium
This is a winner! Especially if your dog is an aggressive chewer. My dog is a 30 lb on the outside but on the inside is a 200 lb tiger/bear who likes to gnaw/destroy everything. I only wish I were joking. We've had this little toy for however long now and she goes to town on it and I don't have to worry like I do with other toys. Because no pieces are falling off or breaking off and she's a happy camper. And I'm a happy camper because I'm not all up in her gnawing business. As you see in the picture this is the perfect size for her. I think she is a mini aussiedoodle but she's approximately 30 to 33 lb of pure energy, love, sloppy kisses, and aggressive chewing. Best toy has its me money by not having to replace more shoes and chargers of all sizes. I think it's kind of cute and she is very protective of it. As I was taking pictures to post, she came to me, got it, trotted off, and you see the end results: her with the toy, protectively holding on to it. She loves this thing and I'm about to order another one just to have just in case. I will mention it is heavy for its size. But unless you want to knock somebody out, I wouldn't recommend throwing it. At all. I don't think any dog smaller than her could carry it around and I don't have a scale to weigh it but this is the perfect size for her. This truly was the best chew toy I have gotten her in about a year, and I am not exaggerating. We are huge fans!!!

good toy for heavy chewers
Color: Blue Shark, Size: Medium
My dog loves this toy. It is tough and has a nice squeak. The only thing that bothers me a bit (it doesn't bother the dog) is the plastic tail gets rough with the chewing.

5 stars so far! My beefy boy is obsessed with this toy. He’s a TOUGH chewer. It fits perfectly in his mouth and it’s definitely tough! Feels thick & sturdy, has no weird smell. He loves the squeaker and he’s been (trying) to tear it up non stop since I gave it to him! Lol. He wore himself out. Definitely ordering more. Love the different animals !

Durable and fun toy
Color: Blue Shark, Size: Medium
My granddog really likes this toy. He is a pit bull mix. The middle is where the squeaker is. Toy is hard plastic and he chewed on it a long time. No damage to toy! The only reason I gave it a 4 and not a 5 is how loud it is bouncing on wood floors. The toy I do recommend. Good size and bright blue color fish.

TRULY INDESTRUCTIBLE!!!
Color: Blue Shark, Size: Medium, Color: Blue Shark, Size: Medium
This toy is truly indestructible. I have purchased several toys over the past few months, all have been detroyed except for this one. It may not look as pretty now but it is still intact and still squeaks. I highly recommend for anyone with truly aggressive chewers.
