FRENCH GOTHIC REVIVAL CARVED OAK CREDENCE CUPBOARD / CABINET, 19th C., 1800s!
Late 19th Century (circa 1870–1890)
French Gothic Revival carved oak credence cupboard of strong architectural form, executed in solid oak and inspired by medieval ecclesiastical furnishings. The angled case is centered by a paneled cabinet door mounted on hand-forged iron strap hinges, opening to a fixed-height interior shelf.
The door panel is finely carved in relief with a standing armored knight, framed by Gothic tracery motifs, evoking chivalric and ecclesiastical imagery characteristic of the Gothic Revival movement. The flanking angled sides are enriched with linenfold carving and fleur-de-lis ornament, reinforcing the medieval French inspiration.
The cupboard retains its paneled back and projecting medial shelf, originally intended for service or display, and is raised on chamfered supports, lending the piece a grounded, architectural presence. The oak surface exhibits a deep, warm patina consistent with age and use.
A well-proportioned and highly decorative example of late 19th-century French Gothic Revival furniture, suitable for use as a credence, small cupboard, or accent cabinet in a traditional or historic interior.

Super cute landing space for keys

I always have trouble finding my keys and so it’s been very helpful to have a dedicated spot to easily throw them in when I get home. At first I thought it would be too big but it’s the perfect size for two wallets and keys, and it’s good quality albeit a bit expensive. The gold isn’t too shiny either, it’s a nice touch and it really reduces the look of clutter on your surfaces and helps it look more organized. It also doesn’t slip around.
