Loropetalum chinense rubrum 'Zhuzhou Fuchsia'

A vigorous, evergreen shrub valued for its rich burgundy foliage and profuse display of bright fuchsia-pink, fringe-like flowers in spring, with lighter repeat blooming throughout the growing season. Native to China, this cultivar develops a naturally graceful, arching habit and provides bold color contrast in the landscape year-round. Unlike some dwarf loropetalums, ‘Zhuzhou Fuchsia’ grows larger and more upright, making it an excellent choice for screens, hedges, or standout specimen plantings.

Best grown in full sun to part shade, deeper foliage color develops with increased sun exposure. This loropetalum is adaptable and easy to grow once established, thriving in well-drained soil and tolerating heat and humidity. Its evergreen structure, colorful foliage, and early-season blooms make it a reliable anchor plant in southern landscapes.

  • USDA Hardiness Zones: 7–10

  • Sunlight: Full sun to part shade (best foliage color in full sun)

  • Water Requirements: Moderate; regular moisture during establishment, drought-tolerant once established

  • Growth Rate: Moderate to fast

  • Mature Size: 8-12 ft tall x 10-12 ft wide

  • Bloom Time: Spring, with occasional reblooming

  • Soil Preference: Well-drained, slightly acidic soil

  • Maintenance: Low to moderate; prune after spring flowering to shape or control size, avoid heavy pruning late in the season

  • Landscape Uses: Hedges, screens, specimen plantings, mixed borders, foundation plantings

  • Deer Resistance: Moderate

Best textbook I've ever read, LOVE GEHART
Format: eTextbook
I used another Gehart textbook in a different class and I can't say enough how much I love this author. In 6 years of academia I don't think I've actually enjoyed reading a textbook until this. She has a "needs to know" section at the beginning of each chapter so even if I haven't had time to read the entire chapter before when I need to I can read that and have some basis of understanding. She also includes information on the theorists, and even though I always skip that part I know some people really like knowing about that. I think it is INVALUABLE that each chapter also has a sample case conceptualization and treatment plan template. AS WELL AS exploring the implications for each theory of its strength's and limitation's with working with diverse clients. My only very minor complaint is the Questions for Personal Reflection and Class Discussion. For several of the chapters it really seems like this was written by someone who hadn't even read the chapter because there were questions asking about something that was very minor or barely mentioned in the chapter.

one of the most helpful counseling books I've found
using this in my master's level counseling class and it's a great resource. I appreciate the way it is written/organized/formatted. It offers some historical background to the theory, describes the theoretical concepts and framework, gives a case example, a sort of worksheet/guide for applying it in practice, and cultural considerations for each chapter/theory.

Great w/ADHD
Format: Paperback
This book was highly recommended to me as graduate intern because I struggle to stay focused. This is an easy “get what you need” book of various modalities and provides you the ability to learn enough about the modalities in addition to applying the modality quick reference format. Would highly recommend for anyone that gets extremely overwhelmed learning modalities.

I wish I had bought it the first semester of school
This is the most comprehensive treatment planning book I own. I wish I had bought it in my first semester of school. Gehart is a clear and engaging writer. The clinical vignettes are true-to-life. The theoretical summaries are priceless and will save you hours of confusing cross-referencing and reading. If you are involved in psychotherapy, clinical psychology, counseling or even a humanities scholar who is interested in theories of psychology, you should have this book on your reference shelf.
