The Kabuki Pendant Lamp is a breathtaking exercise in light and shadow. Designed by Ferruccio Laviani, it translates the grandeur of traditional lace into a high-tech, industrial masterpiece. While it looks like a delicate, hand-woven fiber creation, it is actually the result of sophisticated injection molding—a signature feat of Kartell’s engineering. Suspended from the ceiling, the Kabuki becomes a sculptural focal point, diffusing light through its intricate, perforated "skin." The lamp is defined by its pierced, hollow structure. Laviani used a complex technique to create a surface that mimics a crochet or lace pattern. When the lamp is switched on, this perforated texture projects a stunning array of geometric shadows across the room, creating an atmosphere that is both dramatic and intimate. A modern silhouette inspired by the curves of the Baroque era, reimagined through a contemporary, transparent lens. The perforated thermoplastic material filters the light, reducing glare and casting a soft, decorative glow throughout the space. Made from a single piece of transparent or batch-dyed thermoplastic technopolymer, showcasing Kartell’s ability to create complex 3D shapes.
