Philosophy/Design
A technical and visual revolution: The AC Schnitzer Type VIII forged racing wheel. When light-alloy wheels consist of more than one component, they are referred to as multi-piece light-alloy wheels. Three-piece AC Schnitzer light-alloy wheels consist of two rim halves and the rim centre. The Type VIII forged racing wheel is based on the design of the Type VIII rim, but has a lot more to offer. This genuine, three-piece design product is a revolution in the large market environment for popular wire-spoke rims and fits perfectly with BMW's design language. The visual charm of the rim with its classic 5-twin spokes results from the cast, forged, and machined inner centre and the anthracite spoke frame. The visible screw connections to the rim wells are entirely intentional. The stainless steel screws simultaneously document the multi-piece design and the associated exclusivity of the rim. The outer and inner rim wells are made of forged material manufactured using the flow-forming process. Despite all the details, the multi-part VIII forged racing wheel doesn't appear playful, but rather masculine and sporty thanks to its straight lines. - 3-part rim - visible screw connection with stainless steel screws - particularly stable - Outer rim: forged, milled, rolled, and clear-coated - Rim centre: forged, milled, and painted black - Inner rim: aluminium block, milled, rolled, and anodised in anthracite - Surface: turned, clear-coated - Lightweight inner centre, using forging technology - Weight reduction through forging technology - Reduction of unsprung mass and gyroscopic forces on the car, resulting in significantly increased driving dynamics - Better acceleration and deceleration due to lower masses - Improved cornering - Striking, sleek design in anthracite with silver - High-quality clear coat to protect the rim against corrosion, resulting in a long service life - Exclusive look of the forged racing wheels

production
Steps on the way to perfection - Forged rim star - Outer rim deep-drawn, CNC-machined, high-gloss polished and clear coated - Inner rim deep-drawn, CNC-machined, anodised The individual components are connected to one another using high-strength titanium screws.

Bicolour silver/anthracite surface
In this process, the wheel is first primed and then completely painted. The surfaces that will later have a metallic luster are then turned and polished to a high gloss. Finally, a two-coat clear coat is applied, consisting of a polyester primer and an acrylic clear coat. Outer Rim / Surface: In this process, the outer rim is first polished to a high gloss. Then, a two-coat clear coat is applied, consisting of a polyester primer and a glossy acrylic clear coat. Inner Rim / Surface: The inner rim is anodised.

Test procedures / safety
After their design, the first sample rims are manufactured under real production conditions. These must undergo a multitude of tests. Among other things, their strength is tested. The bending test simulates the "rim lifespan." Every AC Schnitzer rim must survive this lifespan unscathed in order to be produced and sold. Vehicle-specific tests, including test installations with clearance measurements and driving tests on public roads and racetracks, follow. Only after these procedures do our rims receive homologation, i.e., approval for use on public roads. Wheels are safety-critical components. Therefore, they are inspected and tested with the utmost care. This begins with initial chemical material tests and concludes with rigorous endurance tests on test machines: - §30 StVZO wheel guidelines - ECE R124 - Bending tests - 90° impact test - Rolling tests

I was pleased to see the new complete translation of Picatrix by Dan Attrell and David Porreca released in the Magic in History Series of Penn State Press. Picatrix is central to European astrological magic that it deserves an academic treatment. In addition, the willingness of Penn State Press to release a complete translation of Picatrix shows how things have changed in the past decade and the yeoman work done by mages such as Austin Coppock, Alexander Cummins and Cliff Low to delve deeply into astrological magic. As the translators point out at page 2 this version of Picatrix is, "specifically intended for students and scholars of the history of science and magic" In addition to the complete text of the Latin Picatrix in English translation the translators provide useful historical accounts of the pre-history of Picatrix and of the Latin text, Picatrix's exposition of the path of the sage, the use of the terminology nigromancia for astrological magic and the cosmology of Picatrix. Most interesting is a statistical breakdown of the types of magic in Picatrix. Finally, the translators elucidate their view of the importance of psychoactive drugs in ritual, though the translators insist at page 28 that they do not, "wish to suggest that all magic in the Picatrix can be explained away as drug addled delusion…" Coming as it does from an academic perspective, focused on history and social science the Attrell and Porreca translation provides a valuable orientation and background for the contemporary practitioner of astrological magic. No single translation can do justice to a work as complex as Picatrix and anyone who is serious about astrological magic or interested in Picatrix should certainly get a copy of the Attrell and Porreca translation as well as the Greer and Warnock Picatrix and the forthcoming Arabic Picatrix translation.

Great and important translation
Format: Hardcover
I've seen a few interviews with the author and now having the book, I can confirm that this is both an important and comprehensive effort at translating the original text into English, revising previous efforts and taking much more of the cultural context into account. If you wish to understand this important text's place in the history of Western esoteric writing, then I highly recommend this translation!
