Heavy-Duty Aluminum Protection That Means Business

When a slim TPU case isn't enough, the Red Pepper Cases Galaxy Note 9 Heavy Duty Aluminum Case steps up. CNC-machined from aerospace-grade aluminum alloy, this rigid bumper wraps the perimeter of your Note 9 in metal armor while a TPU inner liner absorbs drop energy before it reaches your screen. Whether you work in construction, field service, or just need a case that survives anything your day throws at it, this is it. Browse our full lineup of Galaxy Note 9 Cases to compare every protection level we offer.

10 Key Features

  • Aerospace-Grade Aluminum Frame — 1.2 mm thick 6061 aluminum alloy bumper with anodized finish resists corrosion, scratches, and daily wear indefinitely.
  • Dual-Layer Protection — Rigid aluminum outer bumper + soft TPU inner liner work together to disperse and absorb shock energy from drops up to 2 m.
  • CNC-Precision Machined — Each bumper is CNC-machined to Galaxy Note 9 tolerances within ±0.1 mm for a gap-free, rattle-free fit.
  • Anodized Finish — Type II anodizing adds a 5–25 micron oxide layer that is harder than steel and prevents fading, flaking, or oxidation.
  • Full Button Access — Individually machined metal button covers for power and volume provide tactile click-through feedback better than most TPU covers.
  • S Pen Slot Maintained — Precision cutout preserves full S Pen ejection and re-insertion without case removal.
  • Speaker and Port Cutouts — Acoustically optimized speaker grille openings maintain full audio output; USB-C and headphone jacks fully accessible.
  • Qi Wireless Charging Compatible — Open back design preserves Samsung 12W Fast Wireless Charging pass-through.
  • Built-In Screen Lip — 1 mm raised front lip keeps the display off flat surfaces to prevent face-down scratches.
  • Multiple Color Finishes — Available in anodized Red, Black, Silver, Blue, and Gold to match any personal style.

Material Specifications

The case combines two engineered materials for maximum protection without unnecessary weight.

  • Outer Bumper: 6061 Aluminum Alloy, 1.2 mm wall thickness
  • Surface Finish: Type II Anodize, 5–25 micron oxide layer
  • Inner Liner: TPU (Shore 80A), 0.8 mm, anti-shock cushioning
  • Total Added Weight: Approximately 28–32 g depending on color
  • Bumper Height: 6 mm from phone edge on all sides
  • Temperature Stability: Aluminum stable to 150°C; TPU liner stable to 65°C

5 Real-World Use Cases

  1. Construction & Field Work: Job sites, tools, and concrete floors are no match for a 1.2 mm aluminum perimeter. The anodized finish handles sawdust, oil, and the grit of an active job site.
  2. Outdoor Adventure: Hiking, mountain biking, or kayaking—the aluminum bumper protects against rock impacts and trail drops that destroy standard plastic cases.
  3. Motorcycle Riding: Vibration-damping TPU liner absorbs engine vibration that causes gradual internal phone damage; the rigid outer frame handles tank drops.
  4. Industrial Operations: Chemical-resistant aluminum handles exposure to light oils, cleaning solvents, and industrial environments where TPU degrades.
  5. Security Professional: A case that looks serious and IS serious—the solid aluminum frame projects authority while protecting a $700+ device on the job.

Feature vs. Benefit

Feature Benefit to You
6061 aluminum alloy frame Outlasts the phone itself—no cracking, crumbling, or peeling after years of use
TPU inner shock liner Drop energy absorbed before it reaches the screen and internal components
CNC machined tolerances (±0.1 mm) Zero rattle, zero gaps—case stays tight for the full life of the phone
Type II anodized surface Scratch-resistant surface harder than standard stainless steel
Metal button covers Tactile, positive-click feel superior to rubbery covers on plastic cases
Open back design Full wireless charging and full heat dissipation from the phone body

Installation Guide

  1. Separate the bumper: If the aluminum bumper has a removable inner section, unscrew or unclip the retention screws (1–2 Phillips screws, if present).
  2. Insert the TPU liner: Seat the soft TPU inner liner into the aluminum channel—it should sit flush on all sides.
  3. Lower the phone in: Lay the phone face-up onto the liner, aligning all corners, the S Pen slot, and the camera cutout.
  4. Secure the frame: Press the outer aluminum bumper down around all four sides until it clicks or locks into the liner.
  5. Fasten any screws: If retention screws are present, tighten gently with the included precision screwdriver—do not over-tighten.
  6. Verify: Check button travel, S Pen ejection, USB-C port access, and camera alignment before use.

Full installation: approximately 60–90 seconds.

Troubleshooting

  • Bumper feels tight to install? New aluminum frames have tight tolerances. Gentle, even pressure on all sides simultaneously eases the fit without scratching the phone.
  • Buttons don't click clearly? Check that the TPU inner liner is fully seated—a partially seated liner shifts the button cover position by 0.5–1 mm, reducing travel.
  • Wireless charging reduced? Ensure no metal debris or coins are trapped between the phone and the TPU liner. Clean with compressed air and re-seat.
  • Anodized finish scratched? Light surface scratches on anodized aluminum are cosmetic and do not affect protection. Deep gouges can be treated with aluminum-safe polish.
  • Rattling sound? Tighten retention screws if present. If rattle persists, a thin strip of 0.2 mm foam tape on the TPU liner contact surface eliminates it without affecting fit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does this fit the Galaxy Note 9 with its stock battery cover?
A: Yes. The case is designed for the standard Note 9 (SM-N960) chassis. Do not use with aftermarket battery covers that alter thickness by more than 0.3 mm.

Q: Is the aluminum real or powder-coated plastic?
A: The bumper frame is solid 6061 aluminum alloy. You can verify by weight (~28–32 g for the bumper alone) and the cold-to-touch feel of real metal.

Q: Will the metal case interfere with LTE or 5G signal?
A: The open-back bumper design leaves the antenna lines unobstructed. Signal reception is not degraded because the aluminum does not cover the antenna bands located on the Note 9 back and top/bottom edges.

Q: Does it work with wireless charging?
A: Yes. The open back passes Samsung 12W Fast Wireless Charging and 5W standard Qi without obstruction.

Q: How heavy is the case?
A: Approximately 28–32 g depending on the color finish. Total phone + case weight is approximately 229–233 g.

Q: Can I use a screen protector with this case?
A: Yes. The 1 mm raised front lip is compatible with standard 0.33 mm tempered glass screen protectors for the Note 9.

Q: Does the case include a screwdriver?
A: Yes—a precision Phillips screwdriver for the retention screws is included in the package.

Q: What colors are available?
A: Red, Black, Silver, Blue, and Gold anodized finishes. All offer identical protection levels.

Q: Is this compatible with magnetic car mounts?
A: Yes—the aluminum frame itself provides a natural magnetic surface for most magnetic car mounts without any additional metal plate needed.

Q: How long does shipping take?
A: Standard US delivery: 5–7 business days. Expedited 2-day options available at checkout.

Q: What is your return policy?
A: 30-day returns on unused items in original packaging. Full details at our Refund Policy page.

Q: Is this case TSA-friendly for air travel?
A: Yes. The aluminum frame will flag in a carry-on X-ray but is not a restricted item. It is identical in material to standard laptop frames and passes airport security routinely.

Q: Does the case fit in car mounts or dashboard holders?
A: Yes, if the mount accommodates a phone width of up to 78 mm (the standard Note 9 width plus ~6 mm of bumper on each side = ~90 mm total).

Q: Do you offer custom engraving?
A: We don't currently offer custom engraving. For product questions, visit our Contact page.

Q: Is the inner TPU liner replaceable?
A: The TPU liner is not sold separately, but the aluminum bumper is designed for long-term use—the liner typically outlasts the phone.

A Beta Worth Rooting For
Format: Kindle
In Spare, Violet Fox flips the omegaverse on its head, giving us a Beta heroine determined to make her mark. Joining the Beta Trials to support her sick father, she's thrown into a pack that doesn't want her, especially the possessive Alphas. But here's the twist: their sweet Omega turns out to be her scent match. Cue the angst, forbidden tension, and a slow-burn romance that will make your heart ache in the best way. Violet Fox delivers an emotional, refreshing take on the genre, proving Betas aren't "spares." They're stars.

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

Fantastic writing and non-stop action
Format: Kindle
This is a promising, fantastic beginning to what will be a 4-book series. Some readers may be content to read only the first 2 books, but I think you'll find that the story is so good that you'll want to keep reading books 3 and 4. Book 1 is about omega Elvana's introduction to the "Starling" brothers and their search for another missing person, Kelly. It's a bit of a rocky start, with deception and betrayal a key element. Hardly an auspicious beginning. Each member has their own path and purpose in the pack. Their interactions and the resulting narrative are so well-written that I found it difficult to put down. There is a cliffhanger that will have you reaching for book 2 as you finish, so make sure you have it on hand.

Fun read
Format: Kindle
I'm not really into mafia books but I love Roxy Collin's other series so I decided to give it a try. It had the same great romance, spice, swoon-worthy characters and exciting plot that are her signature. Arben was my favorite, although it was a bit sudden how quickly he changed from ignoring her to wanting to be pack. There were almost too many twists/layers of lies to keep track of but I'm looking forward to reading the other books. The only thing that detracted from the story for me was the need for a bit more proofreading. It was mentioned that Kelly is a female and male at different points, leading me to think she changed her mind at some point about the character's gender but didn't go back and edit it to align in all places. Like another reviewer pointed out, step siblings are different than half siblings. They are incorrectly referred to as step siblings because they (allegedly) share the same biological dad. There are a few other typos as well but those aren't a big deal.
