Dr. Martin Meuli ist ein neugieriger, ehrgeiziger und origineller Kopf: Der Direktor ehemaliger der Chirurgie am KiSpi Zürich wollte eigentlich Sänger oder Tennislehrer werden, hat dann aber Medizin studiert, weil er die Herausforderung suchte und schliesslich Oberarzt statt Tenor wurde. Am Zürcher Kinderspital hat er als Spezialist für Verbrennungen die revolutionäre Entwicklung einer im Labor gezüchteten Haut vorangetrieben. Bei einem längeren Amerika-Aufenthalt entdeckte er die Möglichkeit, ungeborene Föten mit Spina bifida (offener Rücken) im Mutterleib zu operieren und hat als Pionier dieser Operationstechnik schon vielen Kindern ein Leben im Rollstuhl erspart und ein Stück Schweizer Medizingeschichte geschrieben. Aus Anlass seiner Pensionierung blickt Martin Meuli nun zurück auf seine erstaunliche Karriere.
