Im Namen des Bildes versucht erstmals, den Blick sowohl auf die Geschichte der islamisch als auch der christlich geprägten Kulturen zu richten, ihrem Umgang mit dem Bild nachzugehen und zu analysieren. Obwohl das Christentum wie der Islam ein religiöses Bilderverbot kennen, sind Bilder, Bildnisse und Bildwerke in beiden Kulturräumen anzutreffen. Dennoch wird das Bilderverbot in erster Linie auf den Islam bezogen, während die Frage selten gestellt wird, warum bspw. in (katholischen) Kirchen Marienstatuen verehrt werden. Welche Funktion besaß das Bild und welche Bedeutung kam ihm zu? An wen richtete sich das Bild und welche Botschaft vermittelte es? Welche Rolle spielte dabei die Theologie – und welche Rolle kam den weltlichen Machthabern zu? Dabei stellt sich heraus, dass zwischen beiden Kulturen nicht nur Unterschiede bestehen, sondern auch unerwartete Ähnlichkeiten. Letztlich wird hier eine Geschichte erzählt, die zwischen Ikonophilie und Ikonophobie, zwischen Bilderglaube und Bilderkritik oszilliert.Dieses Buch ist auch auf Deutsch erhältlich.

BEYOND GOOD AND EVIL
Format: Paperback
First and foremost: as far as this specific translation of the book goes- I didn't have too much of an issue with it. I will say that whilst reading, I noticed some of the letters were scratched.
This will not go against my opinion of the book.
At first, I was going place this book in C tier. Only because I couldn't understand it. But after finishing, I will instead put it in A tier. (For me)
To start off, I will say to be careful! Only because Neitzsche is (to my understanding) a misunderstood source.
With that out of the way, I would like to say that this book did indeed challenge what I believed about "Good" and "Bad."
How? Well, Neitzsche has an interesting view on the concept of "Good and Evil" viewing it as "Imposing your will to power onto others and the world around you"
By the fourth section, you are given various quotes. Some of those I found myself liking. One of them being: "He who fights with monsters mustn't become one. The longer you gaze into the abyss, it gazes also into you"
For me to understand what was said here, I feel as if I should look more into Neitzsche (as far as this review is concerned at the moment)

This is a tragedy 😭
Format: Hardcover
First of all, front cover has a huge crease, not a big deal. Then I go through the book, and pages are stuck together, printing error. Okay, I can get over it, but then there's GLITTER ALL ON MY HANDS. I feel like this is an arts and craft project a kindergartner swapped with the book I ordered, would buy again
