Herkunft

Dieser Teppich wurde im Städtchen Wiss im sogenannten Sarough-Gebiet handgeknüpft. Wiss liegt an der Straße von Arak nach Isfahan im Westen des Irans. In Wiss steht in fast jedem privaten Haushalt ein Knüpfstuhl. Hier werden robuste Teppiche mit traditionellem Muster geknüpft. Typisch für Teppiche aus Wiss ist das dominante Hexagon als Medaillon im Mittelfeld, das oben und unten von jeweils einer Hakenrauten umgeben ist.

Der Flor der Wiss Teppiche wird traditionell mit krapproten Pflanzenfarben – der von der Wurzel der Krapppflanze (Rubia tinctorium) gewonnen wird – eingefärbt.

Material

Der Flor dieses Wisss wurde aus hochwertiger Schurwolle handgeknüpft. Schurwolle wird durch das schonende Scheren von Schafen gewonnen. Schurwolle ist ein nachwachsender, natürlicher Rohstoff mit einer Reihe beeindruckender Eigenschaften: Durch den natürlichen Fettgehalt der Wolle stößt die Oberfläche Wassertropfen ab und ist so auf natürliche Weise gegen Schmutz imprägniert. Wolle bietet außerdem eine hervorragende Wärmeisolation, wirkt regulierend auf das Wohnklima und dämpft den Schall.
