Im Jahr 1978 kreierte Tissot ein Quarzmodell, das sich durch ein schlankes Gehäuse, schmale Indexe und ein Stahlarmband auszeichnete.

Sein für die Zeit typischer breiter, horizontaler Bandanstoss war perfekt in das flache Gehäuse in Tonneau-Form integriert.

Einige Jahre später liess Tissot den Namen PRX eintragen. „PR“ steht dabei für „präzise“ und „robust“. Das „X“ steht für die römische Zahl Zehn und für den Druck von 10 Bar, der einer Tiefe von 100 Metern entspricht, bis zu denen die Uhr wasserdicht blieb.

2021 präsentiert Tissot die PRX 40 205, wobei die Zahlen jene Produktnummer zitieren, welche die damalige Uhr trug. Es ist eine moderne Interpretation des Vorgängermodells.
