Der Contrada Porcaria wird aus einer alten Lage in 650 Höhenmetern von der Nordseite des Ätna gewonnen. Es ist die begehrteste Contrada, da die Lage den kraftvollsten und komplexesten Wein hervorbringt. Von der grandiosen Lage ist gerade mal ein Hektar im Besitz des Weinguts. Wir haben auch hier, wie bei allen Contrada, natürlich reinsortigen Nerello Mascalese. Die Reben sind über 80 Jahre alt. Der Boden ist hauptsächlich aus lockerem, feinem, fast sandigem vulkanischem Boden, ohne jegliche Steinchen.

Wie bei allen Contrada Weinen wird auch hier der Wein nach der Gärung im Stahltank alle zwei Monate umgezogen und wechselt zwischen Holz und Beton.

Der Wein hat eine dunklere Farbe als alle anderen Contrada. Schon die Nase ist eine sexy Verführung. Sie duftet verführerisch nach Kirschen in allen Formen und Farben mit vielen floralen Aromen, von Veilchen hin zu duftigem Potpourri, auch etwas Teer und zarte Rauchnoten kommen hinzu. Nach und nach entwickeln sich würzige, fleischige Aromen. Man kann schmecken, dass die Lage sehr sonnig ist, denn dadurch bekommt der Wein viel Reichhaltigkeit und Dichte. Nach dem zarten und samtigen Erlebnis an der Nase kommt der Knall im Mund! Der Contrada P schiebt und schiebt – der Wein hat unglaublich viel Druck und Würze. Rauchige, dunkle Mineralität spielt hier die erste Geige. Die Tannine sind fein strukturiert und die Frische beinahe klirrend präzise. Einfach wunderbar, sehr fein, sehr schön ausgearbeitet, sehr subtil und doch gleichzeitig extrem kraftvoll und zupackend bis in den langen, aromatischen Abgang.

Es werden gerade mal 3.000 Flaschen gemacht. Das ist das moderne Sizilien at its best.

I believe it is equal to the name brands It is 50 SPF Sun Protection Factor so it offers strong UV A and UV B protection which are the 2 ranges of sun rays that do the skin damage and burning. It is an easily absorbed lotion that when rubbed goes into the skin and is not visible. It is thick and goes on with a non shiny, non greasy, solid thick feeling which is what we need for it to stay on as long as possible. It feels good after being rubbed in in that it feels dry and not overly greasy or with no shine and sheen. It is a good product and offers burn protection to me in some clear-sky strong sun uses. Reapply after entering the pool water or swimming laps and after an hour (all sunscreen labels say reapply after 80 minutes which I believe is per recommendations of the federal FDA or some medical studies). I reapply often and I still get tanned but I do not want to burn.
