Ist nämlich die Färbung durch einen längeren und aufwändigeren Fermentationsprozess bedingt, so ist die Zigarre geschmacklich wesentlich intensiver und aromatischer. Werden die Deckblätter jedoch künstlich, durch Zuhilfenahme von Zucker und Honig, gefärbt, bleibt der intensive und kräftigere Geschmack aus. Was bleibt ist die milde Süße.
