Geschichte:
Zum ersten mal habe ich die Kaktusfeige 2018 in Peru gesehen, geerntet und gegessen. Sie wächst an Kakteen, die mehrere Meter hoch werden können. Man muss aufpassen, dass man die Stacheln an der Frucht gut entfernt, bevor man sie anfasst. In Peru wurde mit einer Art Palmenwedel über die Früchte gestrichen und anschließend wurden sie mit einem Messer geöffnet, um an das Fruchtfleisch zu gelangen. Von der Konsistenz erinnert es etwas an eine Wassermelone, ist leicht süß und verströmt einen angenehm milden Geschmack. Mittlerweile gibt es die Frucht sogar in Deutschland zu kaufen. Hier wird sie aber meist aus Spanien importiert. 

Das Bild dieser Kaktusfeigen strahlt mit seinen warmen Orange-, Gelb- und Grüntönen pure Lebensfreude aus. Es könnte nicht nur einen Raum erhellen, sondern auch die kulturelle Vielfalt und kulinarische Entdeckungen repräsentieren, die auf Reisen möglich sind.
