Schreibsekretär (Secrétaire à abattant) im Stil des Louis-Philippe, einer Wohnkultur der Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts, die bürgerliche Sachlichkeit mit ruhiger Furnierwirkung verband. Der hochrechteckige Aufbau ist klar proportioniert und zurückhaltend gegliedert; die gespiegelte Flammfurnierung fasst die Front zu einer ruhig geschlossenen Fläche zusammen.

Historischer Kontext Der Sekretär mit herabklappbarer Schreibplatte entstand als Schreib- und Verwahrmöbel des bürgerlichen Haushalts und verband eine Arbeitsfläche mit gegliedertem Innenausbau für Korrespondenz, Dokumente und kleinere Wertgegenstände. In der Louis-Philippe-Zeit löste eine ruhigere, flächig furnierte Formensprache die repräsentative Strenge des Empire ab; Schreibmöbel dieser Art standen in Salon, Wohn- oder Arbeitszimmer und dienten der geordneten Aufbewahrung. Der innen liegende, durch kleine Schubladen und verdeckte Fächer differenzierte Aufbau ist für diesen Möbeltyp charakteristisch.

  • Heller, figurierter Innenausbau (Ahorn) mit mehreren kleinen Schubladen und herausnehmbaren Fächern im Kontrast zur dunkleren Außenfront.

Design Architektonisch aufgebauter Korpus mit gerundeten Frontkanten und gerader, kräftiger Sockelzone auf Kugelfüßen, bekrönt von einer profilierten grauen Marmorplatte. Die Gestaltung folgt dem Louis-Philippe-Prinzip flächiger Wirkung: durchgehende Flammfurnierung, sparsamer Beschlageinsatz und betonte Horizontale. Akzent setzen die figürlichen Schlüsselschilder mit Hähnen und Säulenmotiv, die als einzige ornamentale Elemente die ruhige Fläche unterbrechen.

Funktion Früher als Schreib- und Verwahrmöbel für Korrespondenz und Dokumente genutzt. Heute eignet sich das Stück als dekoratives Schreib- und Sammlermöbel, als Stauraummöbel mit gegliedertem Innenleben oder als ruhiger Solitär an der Wand.

Korpus furniert (geflammtes Nussbaumfurnier), Innenausbau in hellem, figuriertem Ahorn, graue Marmorplatte, figürliche Bronzebeschläge, grüner Schreibflächenbezug. Altersgemäß erhalten mit sichtbarer Patina und altersbedingten Gebrauchsspuren, insbesondere am Schreibflächenbezug. Fachgerecht geprüft und aufbereitet bei Kastellan: gereinigt und materialgerecht behandelt, Oberflächen geprüft und schonend überarbeitet, konstruktiv überprüft, stand- und funktionssicher. Alters- und Gebrauchsspuren sind Teil des historischen Charakters.

So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.
